There’s something to be said about the power of dance. Grooving to the rhythm of your favorite song has a way of melting all your cares away… not only that, dancing is good for you!
But one mom seems to know all that already. In fact, she outdanced all the kids half her age!
Debbie Dance Intensive (DDI) is a program funded by The Debbie Collins Dance Fund – the organization’s core belief is that every child should have an opportunity to express themselves through dance and further their dance education.
That’s why they organize master classes, conventions, dance camps, intensives, and summer camps for every child who wants to dance.
In 2016, DDI held a convention. Although it was mostly for the kids’ benefit, they invited a few parents to join in on the fun.
Men and women of all ages and body types were eager to show the youngsters a thing or two, but one mom completely stole the show.
Noelle Miner attended the dance convention with her mother, but I doubt she expected the video of her mom’s performance to get more than 8 million views on YouTube.
The shaky video begins when Noelle’s mom steps onto the floor. A young girl can be heard yelling “Her mom’s up there, ya’ll!”
The woman turns to the camera with a grin and gives her daughter a quick wave, then she turns around again.
The music begins. It’s a hot and heavy hip-hop track with a fast-paced thump. The woman begins to sway with her hips as she feels out the beat.
“Let’s see if my mom is any good,” Noelle quips.
Noelle’s mom smiles as the music builds and everyone begins to clap along. She bounces from foot to foot, waiting, waiting.
Then, the bass drops.
The mom jumps up and begins to bust out some of the best hip-hop grooves we’ve ever seen. Her knees rise and fall and she pumps her fists into the sky. The other people on the stage are bopping too, keeping time with the beat. But this woman is out-dancing them all.
The crowd erupts when the mom starts to run in place – she’s completely nailing the “running man!”
The crowd is going absolutely crazy now. The music reaches its peak as they roar and shout. Noelle’s mom turns to her friend and they both begin to kick in the air with some extraordinarily well-choreographed moves.
It’s clear that they’ve been rehearsing before the show.
The crowd goes wild again as Noelle shouts:
“She’s my inspiration!”
The song ends, but Noelle’s mom is still dancing her heart out. Her daughter yells about how inspirational her mom is again, just before the video cuts out.
Noelle’s mom wowed the crowd and completely stole the show – but she also won her daughter’s heart with her incredible dance moves.
Noelle, who is an aspiring dancer, uploaded the clip onto her YouTube channel. But she wasn’t the only one who was impressed by her mom’s performance.
“She is my inspiration!!! I love how the girl says that with such meaning. So proud of her Mumma!” someone wrote in the comments section.
And another:
“I just love how that girl talks about her Mama. The way she dances inspires me too and I am 70 yrs. Old. Lol”
