Some true love stories are straight from the plot of a romance movie. Take Norwood Thomas’s story, for example; he’s a 93-year veteran that served in World War II. It was during this time that he met the girl of his dreams.

When Norwood was overseas, he met a woman named Joyce that would never once leave his thoughts. Norwood knew the moment that he met Joyce that he would spend the rest of his life with this woman.

He dreamed of marrying Joyce, but destiny took a different course for the young couple in love.

Right before the Invasion of Normandy, he had to leave for battle. Norwood had every intention of visiting her the very next week, but sadly — he never saw her again.

Norwood would never stop thinking about Joyce.

“She was on this pedestal. A goddess. Untouched. Pure. Unobtainable,” Norwood boasted about his beautiful love interest.

It turned out that Joyce hadn’t stopped thinking about Norwood either.

After spending 70 years apart, Norwood’s son received an email from Joyce’s son; Joyce was in Australia. The couple was going to be reunited — at least through a Skype video chat for the time being.

After chatting for a few moments, Norwood and Joyce seem to be thoroughly enjoying the visit with one another. There was just one problem for Norwood…

“The only one big problem is, I can’t take you in my arms and give you a squeeze!”

The two lovebirds clearly still had a connection after all of these years apart.

Joyce says that she has a picture of Norwood and says “good morning” to it every single day. She’s been doing that for 70 years.

These two quickly won the internet over and people from all over the world wanted to help these to meet in person.

Thanks to the generous donations of over 300 people, Joyce and Norwood will be reuniting in person on Valentine’s Day next year.
