People grieve in different ways. Some people mourn alone while others grieve openly. Between the two, it’s those people who hide their feelings of distress that are hard to console. People around them have no idea what they are going through.

When Lindsey Sheely ordered pizza one night, she had no idea she’ll be touching one grieving man’s life.

Lindsey and her son Cohen were craving for pizza one night. They decided to get one delivered to their home in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Ryan Catterson delivered the pizza on time.

He walked over Lindsey’s wooden patio and rang the doorbell. He gave her the food and took the payment.

Ryan thought it was just a normal encounter.

However, just as he was about to leave Lindsey’s home, Cohen came running out of the door to say goodbye to him.

Inside the house, Lindsey thought about her doorbell.

She realized that it may have captured the heartwarming encounter between her son and the pizza delivery guy. Fortunately, it did!

Lindsey posted the video on her Instagram account.

In her post, she said:

“Last night when we got our pizza (and ranch) delivered, Cohen ran out to hug the delivery guy and tried to give him a kiss, too!”

She also shared:

“We thought it was so sweet and funny. Then realized that our doorbell might have caught the interaction on camera—and it did!”

The video went viral.

Eventually, it made its way to Ryan’s timeline. He reached out to Lindsey and they were able to share a few things about each other’s life.

Ryan just lost his 16-year-old daughter.

She lived with Ryan’s ex-wife in California. After struggling with her mental health, she passed away unexpectedly a week before Ryan met Cohen. The little boy’s act of kindness touched him.

Ryan shared:

“After losing my daughter this past week, it touched me because it was like she was there.”

He admitted that he’s having a hard time not being able to hug his daughter again. Cohen’s action meant a lot to him.

The viral video reached a lot of people.

Those who have watched it sent lots of sweet messages to Ryan.

According to him:

“A lot of people are commenting that may have been her looking out for me. Those words mean something. Maybe she’s there.”

A lot of people left heartwarming comments on the video, too.

One of them said:

“A little kid’s hug is a treasure, because kids are honest. This was a heart-felt hug, a little gift from heaven.”

Another one shared:

“Everyone needs a random smile or hug.. everyone is hiding some kind of pain.”

One viewer commented:

“I totally think his daughter sent that hug to him. The boy’s mom even seemed surprised that he did it, so this was obviously not a common occurrence. Awesome moment! Poor man.”

There’s no way for us to tell if someone is going through a hard time. With that in mind, let’s try to be nicer to other people like Cohen.
