Dogs and humans have a special bond nobody could explain.
There is this mutual emotional connection between a man and his furry best friend. Even with the quirkiest attitude, we love our dogs no matter what.
Sometimes, these friendships come in the most unlikely pairing.
But who are we to say that a dog and a human are a perfect pair? As long as they enjoy each other’s company, we know that the friendship is formed and there’s no breaking it.
This St. Bernard named Brody found the most remarkable friendship in Sally.
Dave and Edie Mazzarella moved to Mount Vernon in 2004, and Sally Reenhorn was their first neighbor in their block. They live beside each other, with no barrier or gate around. What separates their homes are just trees and grass.
With that open space, it’s easy to be friendly with each other.
The Mazzarellas didn’t know that their friendship with Sally would become more profound when they had Brody in their lives.
It was 2017, and Brody was only 12 weeks old.
Dave had just given Brody a bath when he almost immediately disappeared. He looked for the little puppy and found him at their neighbor’s house.
Sally also remembered that day when she saw that cute puppy outside her door.
She thought Brody wanted to make friends – and that’s how their beautiful friendship began. Sally gave Brody bread, and he loved it so much. Even if Sally brought some dog treats, Brody wouldn’t eat them because he only likes bread.
Brody became Sally’s regular visitor.
Dave said that their beloved dog would go around the corner and look into Sally’s window. He would peek if she were there and as if asking her if he could come in. Sally would gladly let him in so they could spend time together.
This has become a daily routine for Brody until an unfortunate event happened.
Sally had a heart attack and was taken to a care home since. Brody still went next door only to find an empty house. Dave said that he just sits outside and waits. Brody didn’t understand why his dear friend wasn’t there anymore.
Dave knew he had to do something for his sad dog.
Their friendship was so precious, he couldn’t take it away from Brody. So, every week, he takes Brody to the care home to spend time with his dear friend, Sally.
Once Brody gets inside the home, he struts around like it was his.
He knew that his friend was in there, and he was excited to spend time with him. Sally was always happy to spend time with Brody, even if it meant that they’d sit in silence outside. She often uses her foot to rub Brody’s back, and he seems to like it.
For Brody, this is enough.
No words would even amount to the happiness they feel when they’re together. A simple, quiet moment is enough to carry them through the week… until it’s time to see each other again.
