Reunited And It Feels So Good
Being able to spend time with your pet is one of the most rewarding experiences to be had. The memories created by these moments resonate deeply whenever we can recall a time where we felt happy, warm, or comforted by another. They’re always there by your side to give you strength and support in the kindest of ways.
Sadly, many men and women in the armed forces go long periods being absent from their most cherished furry friends. It’s as heartbreaking as it gets when you realize you can’t be next to the one thing in this world that keeps you feeling safe and at ease. However, returning back home is as sweet as cherry pie to the soldiers once they realize it’s time to rekindle the bond.
One occasion saw a female soldier coming back after her gruelling 8-month deployment overseas. What happens next may require you to have a box of tissues ready at your disposal.
The soldier’s name is Janna Berger. She was returning home from being stationed overseas. It was a joyful encounter once Janna saw her family. The emotional tears couldn’t be held back as the family embraced each other.
But there was one member of the family that didn’t want to be left out: Janna’s adorable doggo. The dog had stayed with Janna’s parents throughout the months that she remained stationed abroad. Berger said she missed her dog immensely when she was away for training and it was insanely tough to not think about him when she felt lonely.
“I thought about Murphy every day. Being away from him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”
The reunion for Janna and her loyal companion was finally here! As Janna called to her dog, Murphy, she stood in anticipation for what would soon come next.
At first, Murphy didn’t seem to recognize who this person was at all! After a bit of sniffing and smelling, Murphy finally caught the scent of his rightful master and began going ecstatic…and we mean absolutely bonkers!
The dog starts to jump uncontrollably in all directions with seemingly infinite energy. You can see the excitement surging through his body as he is petted and hugged compassionately by his best bud. Janna couldn’t contain herself either as she rubbed his belly and allowed him to shower her with doggy smooches.
You would think Murphy would be tired by now, but the 8 months of being away from his master clearly showed to have taken a toll on the pup. His tail wagged as if he’d just found out he’d won puppy lottery.
“I had no idea Murphy would react the way he did! When he didn’t recognize me at first, I was so heartbroken. The happiest moment of my life was when he finally figured out it was me.”
No words can really match the motions Janna must have been going through. Overcoming the struggle of separation is not an easy journey, and for Janna, was one she’s glad has been put to the past. She now plans to take the next step and is deciding to share a new home with Murphy.
