Carolyn Reichle , 28, took her dog to the vet for what seemed like a medical check for her pet.
But she had a different reason for going to the office. In fact, it was the only reason she could think of to get out of her ordeal.
She walks in wearing a jacket and sunglasses, leaving her dog with the staff as she waits with her boyfriend in the waiting room.
Reichle then proceeds to walk by the receptionist and nurse, then quickly slips them a note, her hand shaking as she does so.
The two women behind the desk quickly read the note and realize they need to take action.
“Call the cops,” she wrote in shaky handwriting. “My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don’t let him know.”
Dial 911.
It was a very tense fifteen minutes until the cops arrive.
They enter the waiting room and arrest Reichle’s boyfriend, who surrenders with his arms raised as the cops lift his shirt and remove his gun.
As soon as he is escorted out, Carolyn bursts into tears then shows the staff and the officers her bruises.
Reichle had allegedly been held in her home by her boyfriend for two days.
She was beaten and threatened by her boyfriend, Jeremy Floyd.
The ordeal began when Floyd accused Rachel of flirting with other men.
He told her to go into their bedroom saying he would call other men to come over and have sex with her.
Reichle told police she pretended to comply but went to the bedroom and jumped out of a window instead.
Floyd caught up to her, dragging her back into the house by her hair, before he struck her “multiple times” with an open hand to her face and head.
He “threatened to kill her” after retrieving Reichle’s own handgun.
They wrestled over the gun, discharging two to three bullets into the floor but Floyd ended up still controlling the gun, she said.
Carolyn says she slept for 22 straight hours, suffering from a head trauma.
When she woke up, “Jeremy apologized for his actions, saying that God was punishing him,” she told police, based on the criminal affidavit.
She was then able to convince him that her dog needed to go to the DeLand Animal Hospital, and that’s how she hatched her plan.
On the way to the vet, he pointed the loaded gun at her and threatened to kill Reichle and her family.
Jeremy Floyd, 39, faces multiple charges of with domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and simple battery in Volusia County, Florida
Police did find two bullet holes in drywall inside their home.
Carolyn was then treated for all her injuries.
Carolyn’s quick thinking is what led to her abusive boyfriend’s arrest.
The veterinarians immediate reaction to her note spelled the difference between more days of abuse or putting a criminal behind bars.
We’re glad Floyd was arrested.
