Dad with down syndrome proves everyone wrong when he raises his son to be a doctor
He did everything to make sure his son had a normal life like any other child.

Down syndrome is a condition that faces misconceptions which are, sadly, accepted as facts.

And not everybody is willing to do their own research about the condition.

The Global Down Syndrome Foundation says that one of the misunderstandings is that people with Down syndrome cannot have children.

There are challenges, certainly, but they can have children.

Jad Issa is from Syria, and has Down syndrome.

He has a child with his wife.

His son, Sader, who is now a dentist.

Jad met his wife when he started working in a local wheat mill.

They fell in love eventually and shortly after getting married, had their son.

Sader wasn’t born with Down syndrome, so Jad was determined to give his son the best life he could give him.

He began saving up for college all while showering his son with all his love.

Father and son would bond through activities like thumb wrestling and playing other games.

Jad is also known as a “personality” around town so the community knows the family well.

Sader was motivated and inspired to achieve his dreams.

He wanted to make his dad proud.

“Personally I think I would’ve been much less excited about life and much less passionate with what I do if I didn’t have my special father,” he shares.

Sader, now a dentist, has one of the highest paying careers in Syria, and that just makes Jad really happy and proud.

Even when his son was still studying, Jad would introduce others to him by saying, “my son is a doctor.”

Jad is proof that people with his condition can still achieve so much.

Sader loves his mom and dad, sharing with people that even though they have been together for decades, the love between his parents is as strong as the day they got married.

Jad and his wife complement each other perfectly.

They are still very much in love, going on walks together and even just sitting and talking for hours.

They were made for each other.

Sader credits his father with his success, saying that he is as proud of his dad as his dad is of him.

Father and son still bond together, this time by watching movies.

“We wish all people were able to accept that being different is not something to be ashamed of. People with Down Syndrome are different but they have feelings, aspirations, a mind of their own, and they are capable of living a normal life when there is social acceptance and a society that is supportive,” Sader shared.

“Let us give them a chance and see what great capabilities they have,” he continued.

Jad defied misconceptions regarding Down syndrome, raising his son to be a successful dentist.

Sader, in turn, uses his success to show the world his love and support for his dad and many others with the condition.
