With all that I’ve watched by far, this has to be one of the most satisfying renovation videos that I have ever seen on the internet!

Jack Shelly took on the challenge of saving and transforming his granddad’s cottage that’s already 2 centuries old!

This tough makeover is happening in Mullinahone, Ireland. It’s a cottage that his grandfather bought back in 1950 when he was just 29 years old. With its old appearance, the place sure needed a lot of fixing but this Irish man has decided in making the impossible a reality.

In a video showing his makeover journey, he said,

“So, my father, his parents, and his five brothers and sisters grew up in this two-bedroom house. With no insulation and singled-glazed windows.”

He has reasons why he wanted to restore it.

He is not just simply in a beautification mission, he also wants to preserve a beautiful piece of their family’s history.

Sadly, Shelly’s grandfather already passed away 10 years ago at the age of 89, he left the house to his dad (his grandfather’s son) and it had been in a deteriorating state for the past decade as nobody was present to live there and to maintain the cottage.

It was initially given to his father (his grandfather’s son) but he decided to take on the challenge of bringing the place back to life.

“Since then it’s being vacant and slowly deteriorating. At the beginning of this year, I decided to bring it back to life,” Jack told Newsflare.

He doesn’t only want to bring the house’s beauty but also to turn it into a business, something that would benefit both him and visitors.

With a budget that just a little over $30,000, Shelly is determined to finish this massive project.

However, before he can even start fixing the house, there’s a ton load of decluttering that needs to be done first. Of course, with the help of his father, this was made possible.

“My father and I began clearing it out and getting rid of anything that wasn’t needed. When the clearing out was finished it was time to start with the actual renovation,” Jack said.

That was also the time when he decided to share his project and progress on social media.

He shared it on TikTok and he amassed 45,000 followers in just 24 hours!

His project sure made a lot of people on the internet curious, more specifically about how it would turn out. He has been documenting his cottage renovation progress since then and uploaded a lot of videos on his TikTok account @jackshelly8 where hundreds of thousands to millions of people are watching.

He is definitely a man on a mission.

Jack has been doing most of the work – from hammering down concrete foundations, power-washing specks of dirt molding on most parts of the cottage’s exteriors, cutting unwanted greeneries embracing the roof, repainting, fixing the roof, and a whole lot more.

Powerful machines were also needed to do the strenuous jobs outside like shoving away huge concrete debris and other humongous things that were parted out from the decluttering process.

Insulation, new windows, electrical wiring, and connections, and plumbing works – he fixed everything from the smallest to the biggest detail.

The renovation is not completely finished yet but you can always visit Shelly’s TikTok account for updates and the satisfying “before and after” edits that he’s made on the videos.

But here’s how it has turned out so far!
