A lot of people don’t know much about Great Danes. They know they’re huge dogs but what else? Do you know that Great Danes are also the sweetest dogs with the biggest hearts? Do you know that they can look majestic and yet be silly at the same time?
Great Danes are great fur companions and these photos will prove why they’re the greatest!
1. Play ball!
Want to play one-on-one but can’t find anyone? Get your great dane to play with you! Make sure you’ve got a couple of extra balls though. There’s a big chance they might puncture the ball with their teeth.
Lily is blind but she’s got a companion by her side, Madison, guiding her every step. They might be two huge dogs coming your way. But they’re also two dogs with great, big hearts. You’ll want to just hug them when you see them.
Great Danes are not just known for their height. This one makes sure you know her for one more thing.
“I trained my Great Dane to take selfies with me – if I’m sitting and extend my arm with my phone in hand, she plops up next to me, leans, and gives the camera this look.”
Edna’s the perfect size for lounging with her little sister. She’s protecting her with her head draped over her. And she’s prepped her body to be her little sister’s head pillow. Perfect lounge partners.
Sit down beside them on the couch and you’ll see. They may look half your height when they’re standing on their four paws. But once they sit down, they will tower over you!
Do you know how other dogs run around to catch their tails? This one doesn’t want his tail. He wants to catch his own paw! And with a lot of contorting, he finally got it!
It’s not the height we should note in this picture. It’s funny how this big great dane can’t get up on the couch even more just to get away from this small dog. Wanna bet he’s scared of the smaller dog’s small bark, too?
Pippin was rescued by Kate’s mom when Pippin’s mom abandoned her. Kate sensed what Pippin felt and stayed by her side. Now, you’ll always see them together.
His little feline friend is even smaller than his front paws. But he doesn’t care. All he wants is to take care of this little kitty. And this little kitty wants it, too.
Who knew this little one will grow up to be a huge, tall dog? From this angle, it looks like they’re just really small puppies. And then we remember, their mothers aren’t regular-sized dogs. And now, it looks like these puppies are the same size as regular adult dogs.
This little one wanted to adopt a dog and went with his parents to the local animal shelter. He wanted a small dog but you know what they say, when you know, you know. And this little boy and great dane knew they were brothers for life.
“My sister caught her new Great Dane puppy sleeping like this.”
So this is what a Great Dane puppy looks like. They do look like regular puppies. Wonder at what age they start to grow bigger than usual. And look at that sleeping position!
They’re usually seen as enemies. But in the case of these two, they’re definitely besties. Although, judging by this kitty’s face, it doesn’t quite look like it. Or maybe she’s just really tired or doesn’t like photos.
We wonder if this Great Dane was named Jäger after a drunken night. Or maybe his dad is a German, or a hunter, or a German hunter. Which story seems plausible?
“My old girl Darma. She’s a 10-year-old great Dane, but no one has told her yet. Her eyes may be cloudy and hip a little stiff but her heart is as big as ever.”
It doesn’t matter what age they get. Great Danes will always have the biggest hearts to pair with their big size.
When you live with a Great Dane, be prepared to live with a dog with their own couch, their own queen-sized bed, and their own chair. Because they won’t fit anywhere else. And then they’ll take over your couch, your bed, and your chair. And where will you stay then?
Would you believe he’s still a puppy? He’s a Great Dane puppy. Are you less confused now? Just wait a few more weeks and he’s going to grow twice as big!
“My cat has been staying with my mom recently and he has had issues getting along with other cats so I was worried about him with her dogs. But, apparently, he’s fallen in love with her Great Dane.”
Cats and dogs have always been shown as great enemies. But, in their case, they’re the best of friends.
Some dogs are just meant to be models. A clear example is 10 -week old Remy. Look at those eyes, that fur, and those paws! Did you know Remy wears size 12 sneakers? Damn.
This Great Dane missed his dad so much, he broke physical distancing protocol. But he doesn’t care as long as he gets to hug his dad again. His dad’s not complaining, too, and would have probably done the same!
They maybe enemies but cats and dogs can often be seen together and can become best buds. But a puppy and turtle? That’s uncommon. But when we bond, we bond, right?
Yes, this Great Dane’s excited for their little brother or sister to come! And he’s not going to leave his mom’s side until they come. He’s going to protect her all day, every day.
