Many people across the globe have been working from home since the pandemic. But while not driving to an office each day would eliminate a bit of stress – it doesn’t mean that other problems can’t arise. And in some cases, the issues have been hilarious!

One boss named Lizet Ocampo went viral for her little blunder while conducting a virtual meeting. Interestingly, it involved a potato.

Companies everywhere are keeping workers connected through video calls. Sometimes though, things don’t go as planned…

Between barking dogs, children running into the room, and eating coworkers – let’s just say participating in a meeting from home can lead to interesting stories!

In this story, a Snapchat filter was behind the comical distraction.

A meeting she’ll never forget.

Ocampo works for the non-profit advocacy organization, People for the American Way, as the national political director. She decided to download some filters to use during calls with leaders to help lighten the mood.

Yet, Ocampo wasn’t planning on using a Snapchat filter when she held a Monday check-in call with her staff. Much to everyone’s surprise, that’s exactly what happened.

Their boss joined the Microsoft Teams meeting looking like this…

Yep, she was a potato.

The Washington D.C. boss didn’t expect to look like a potato in the ground – and neither did anyone else! She quickly tried to remove the filter after seeing her image. However, she couldn’t figure it out.

So Ocampos was stuck being a spud the whole time.

As to be expected, the team members couldn’t control their laughter.

Rachele Clegg was there during the hilarious meeting. She told Insider:

“We started flipping on our cameras and Lizet popped up as a potato in the soil. We all laughed uncontrollably because all you could see were her eyes and mouth. The meeting was about a half hour, but I guarantee we spent 10 minutes cackling.”

Ocampo’s mistake had her colleagues cracking up, plus the internet too.

Clegg took a screenshot of their video call and shared it on Twitter with the following caption:

“my boss turned herself into a potato on our Microsoft teams meeting and can’t figure out how to turn the setting off, so she was just stuck like this the entire meeting”

It didn’t take long for the tweet to go viral. As of now, it has more than 918K likes! Even Microsoft recognized how hysterical it was.

The potato boss decided to come forward.

Instead of wanting to “hide in the ground,” Ocampos took to social media to reveal her identity.

“I yam potato boss. You should see me in a crown, right @billieeilish? I yam glad this is making folks laugh at this time. Please stay planted at home and safe! For more needed laughs, follow my favorite comedian @cristela9. Potate out. #HASHtag #PotatoBoss”

Everyone could use some uplifting.

According to Insider, Clegg and Ocampo both think the reason the tweet went viral is because of the world’s need for laughter during this hard time.

Clegg said:

“Right now, everyone needs a laugh. We really miss the camaraderie that we have when we are in the office. I think people relate to that and recognize how much they miss their coworkers’ company and a good laugh.”
