The Oprah Winfrey Show was on the air for 25 seasons and in that time she gave hundreds of women makeovers.
However, there was one instance when she gave one deserving woman a ‘makeunder’.
Married mother of one, Jan DeVitto, had a rigorous hair and makeup routine that she had been doing since she was a teenager.
Her adult daughter claims never to have seen her mother without her hair up in a bun and heavy makeup on her face.
Even her husband had rarely seen her without being fully done up.
Gina, Jan’s daughter, contacted the Oprah Winfrey Show and asked them to help her mother update her look.
In a video about herself, Jan claims to have had the same hair since she was 16, and the same makeup since she was 15.
Her hair routine consists of her flipping it to the front to rat and tease the back of it, then putting it into a bun right on the over top of her head.
She also sprays herself with hairspray multiple times a day, 2 or 3 times before she has even left the house in the morning.
Jan also works as a hairdresser and, as she sprays her clients, she also sprays herself.
Her makeup routine is even worse if you can imagine that!
Jan is never without makeup, never, she wears a full face to bed every night.
The first thing she does after stepping out of the shower is apply her makeup, and she just keeps layering onto it until she showers again.
Every single day she adds on more blue eyeshadow, thick layers of mascara, and drawn-on eyebrows, along with multiple coats of foundation.
She adds more makeup before going to bed, just in case an emergency happens and she has to leave the house without the chance to put any on.
Every morning she has to change her pillowcase because the one from the night before is covered in makeup.
Her style is really no better, it still lives in the 80s too.
Jan lives in either leggings or cropped pants and she always wears nude pantyhose underneath.
As for shoes, Jan is just under 5 feet tall so every pair of shoes she owns have a heel.
She also only wears open-toed shoes, usually a wedge or chunky heeled platform.
Oprah, and her guest host supermodel Tyra Banks, definitely had their work cut out for them with Jan.
The audience was full of her friends and family who eagerly awaited her reveal and their screams of delight when she finally walked out was overwhelming.
Gina ran onto the stage to tell her mother how beautiful she looked, and to give her a big hug.
Jan came out with a huge smile on her face and a completely new and modern look.
Gone was the big hair, bad makeup, and 80s fashion.
The new and improved Jan was hip, elegant, and stylish.
