It feels great when you know that you have a strong relationship with your parents. And knowing that you’re so close with them makes them so happy too.

Parents love it when their children open up to them and treat them as their best friends.

Unfortunately, not all parents and children get to experience the same thing.

We all know that many kids didn’t grow up with their biological parents. What’s worse is some kids never had the chance to meet their moms or dads.

If it’s heartbreaking for these kids, the feeling is probably the same for some parents.

Surely, most of them never wanted to be separated from their kids. It’s just that they have been tested by some unwanted situations.

Stacey Faix had to go through the same circumstance.

She was 15 when she gave birth to her firstborn. She knew that at her age, she was not capable to raise a child yet.

Although it was a difficult decision, she chose to give up her son for adoption. Sadly, she didn’t even get the chance to hold him when he was born.

She thought that she won’t ever have the chance to see and hold her child but what happened was the opposite.

Turns out they have something in common.

Stacey and her son Stephen Strawn both love to run. Both of them were members of a veteran support network called Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB). Their similarities contributed a lot to their chance to meet each other again.

Stephen really wanted to meet his biological mother but he even had all the courage when the state of Pennsylvania passed the law in 2017 – and it’s giving adopted children the chance to access documents regarding their biological parents.

He finally got the information about his mom including her name and state. Thankfully, both of them were registered to run in a Pittsburg Half Marathon as they were part of different RWB chapters.

Stephen took that chance to surprise her biological mom.

He reached out to the Pittsburgh chapter of Team RWB and they agreed to surprise Stacey in the event that they both love.

Stephen’s plan was a success as his mother got stunned upon reading a note with a hint that he was also in the same place on that day.

It reads:

“It’s been 13,075 days since you last saw me. I didn’t want to make you wait one more.”

Stephen immediately showed up and he received a hug from Stacey who was really emotional at that time. Stacey didn’t waste the moment and embraced her son like there was no tomorrow.

Stacey’s daughters, as well as, Stephen’s wife were present to witness the touching moment. Just like the many others who were there, the heartfelt reunion also made them emotional.

Stacey and Stephen grabbed the chance to do the activity that’s close to their hearts together.

Their photos say it all. Both of them are apparently joyful that they got to see each other again. It’s also nice to know that Stephen got the chance to meet his sisters.

Although they were apart for 35 years, they are really blessed to be reunited again.
