As a child, Crystal had perfect teeth. She was never shy when it came to flashing a gorgeous smile. But it was after her second pregnancy when her teeth began falling out.

She was eating a salad when her front tooth snapped off. From then on, her dental problems just worsened.

Crystal suffered from corrosion, infections, and abscesses. So by the time she was 30 years old, Crystal only had nine teeth in her mouth.

The dentist told her that the treatment would cost her upwards of $40,000. She was a single mom and that just wasn’t an option. Crystal was willing to try anything to save her teeth.

She went online for her solution.

Crystal began watching tutorials on molding, cutting, and fitting. The single mother soon learned how to make her very own teeth out of polymorph beads. And they only cost her a few cents every two weeks.

Better than the thousands of dollars she heard from the dentist, right?

Her DIY dentures may have saved her money but of course didn’t solve her problem.

Crystal still had pressure on her gums and pain in her teeth. Good thing she joined The Doctors, who in turn sent her to Dr. Chris Tricinella to assess any possible damage she may have done to her remaining teeth with her DIY dentures.

Dr. Tricinella soon found that Crystal was experiencing multiple abscess teeth and chronic infections. She was then sent to meet with cosmetic dentist Dr. Kourosh Maddahi.

Dr. Maddahi found reoccurring issues with acid reflux, with lots of sugar in her diet and sleeping with her partial tooth in at night creating the opportunity for bacteria to grow.

That led to the single mom’s dental issues.

Even her kids were concerned they’d grow up with dental issues. It’s a good thing Crystal finally decided to let the experts handle her delicate situation. Leave it to the experts.

It is strangely impressive how creative she was with her homemade dentures.

Crystal had to give up her cravings for sugar. When asked if she was willing to, she gave a definite yes. Her dental work did come for free so why waste it with old habits right?

Yes, doctors and dentists are often expensive. That’s why self-care is so important. But these experts charge a lot for a reason. They studied and trained for years, and we’re paying them for the best advice possible.

Crystal, while saving money, may have ended up in a worse state had she not been referred to the experts with her problems.

Let’s not forget the most important aspect of oral care. A toothbrush with toothpaste.

And the most important lesson here is to trust the professionals.
