There isn’t anything that a mom wouldn’t do for their baby.
While we may usually think of that phrase as meaning a mother would lay her life down for her babies (which is true), it also means that she will fight for her life to stay WITH her babies.
For Autumn Carver, that was exactly the case.
Autumn Carver is what many would call a living miracle.
Autumn’s path to “miracle status” didn’t happen overnight.
In fact, it began months ago when she and her husband, Zach, learned they were pregnant.
The baby was their third and came after a tough battle with infertility.
Miscarriages had taken an emotional and physical toll on the couple and they were ready for a breakthrough.
That breakthrough came, but not without some other bad news.
The couple was finally able to get pregnant and they were overjoyed to have finally succeeded.
Their little boy was on his way and they only had a few months until they were destined to meet him.
That was, until both Zach and Autumn got COVID-19.
Zach recovered rather quickly and wasn’t too worried, but Autumn seemed to be struggling a bit more.
Her health continued to spiral downward to the point that they eventually check her into the hospital.
Once checked in, they learned that the virus was attacking her lungs and she was in serious trouble.
As a final call, they decided to intubate her even while she was pregnant.
Incredibly, the doctors delivered her baby, Huxley, at 33 weeks while she was still in the hospital.
The move was risky but necessary. The procedure went well, but now the real battle was starting. Would Autumn ever be able to hold her son while she was awake?
As her health continued to decline, the medical team delivered her son Huxley at 33 weeks and then placed Autumn Carver on life support. No one knew if this new mom would ever wake up to hold her baby boy or go home to her new family of five. – God Updates
After two months of life support, Autumn finally woke up.
When she finally got to hold her baby for the first time, he was seven weeks old.
When they touched for the first time, it was a truly miraculous moment.
“Her parents, one of her best friends, and many nurses and doctors witnessed the special moment. I don’t know if there was a dry eye in the area,” he wrote of his wife meeting Huxley. “What an amazing day. We have a long way to go, but a good day through this was much needed.” – God Updates
When she finally Facetimed her family at home, her daughter only wanted one thing for Christmas.
Her daughter, Sadie, only had one gift this Christmas – for mom to come home.
Thankfully, Autumn was able to make that happen.
You might even call it a Christmas miracle!
