We always remember the night we first met “the one.”
Some of us met them at a party, or some found their lifelong partner beside them all along.
But the (most) classic line we always hear from friends is, “this guy walked into the bar,” and they continue talking about how that night changed their lives forever.
Well…that’s how celebrities Timothy Busfield and Melissa Gilbert met.
Timothy recalled that he was doing his usual “drill.”
He told M Live he would usually go to this bar across Universal Studios around 8 pm because it was almost always empty.
He would usually grab a pizza and beer and watch some sports in the bar before the crowd came in and started to get busy.
But that one faithful night in 2012 was different.
As he was about to enter, he noticed a woman sitting by the bar wearing a fedora hat.
He stepped back and thought, “I haven’t been on a date in 6 months. I’m just working and not dating. I really don’t want to date anyone right now.”
So, he came in with some pizza in one hand and ordered a beer.
That’s when Melissa noticed him and smiled. Tim lost it.
He couldn’t ignore Melissa Gilbert, the “Little House on the Prairie” star, because who could ignore that smile?
They started talking and felt at ease with each other. The two enjoyed each other’s company and met for brunch the next day.
Melissa was quick to defend her side of the story.

In her defense, she said she doesn’t often go to bars, but she was with her friends then.
They had to leave her behind to retrieve a cellphone they had left at a previous location.
Alone in a strange bar, she smiled at this familiar face; the rest was history.
The couple got married in April 2013 in Santa Barbara, California.

We could say the third time’s the charm for these two, as both Melissa and Timothy were married and got divorced twice.
But time has its way of helping you find your true love, and Timothy knew Melissa was “the one.”
As Melissa puts it, “I married my soulmate.”
What’s the secret to their decade-long marriage?
It’s not easy to find lasting marriages in Hollywood these days, and that’s why if a couple lasts a decade (or more), you’d wonder what they did right.
For Melissa, she said she loved working with Timothy.
Timothy is not only an actor but also a director and executive producer.
“I’m married to an incredibly creative man who manages to continually create jobs for me. My favorite thing in the world to do is work together,” Melissa said in an interview with Parade.
On the other hand, Timothy said all his interactions and talks with Melissa always “felt real.”
He added that he always felt everything was even between them and that “across the board, they were just equals in everything.”
For Melissa, there was something that Timothy told her that meant a lot to her.
As a child actress, she was always pushed to do what she was told, even if she didn’t want to.
Timothy was a breath of fresh air for her, giving her the freedom to do what she pleased and that she never had to do something she didn’t want to do.
Couple goals, indeed!
