Not all unexpected events are pleasant, but some can bring happiness, and others are just plain adorable.
Mary Anne West, 49, had been working as a labor and delivery nurse at HCA Healthcare’s Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.
She had helped deliver hundreds of babies, not knowing that one of those bundles of joy would come back to her life and join her family.
Kelsey Poll works as a bank teller.
One day, a young, handsome man walked into the bank and they noticed each other.
Sparks flew, and then their friendship began.
Soon after, they fell in love and Tyler asked Kelsey if she would marry him.
Kelsey smiled and gave Tyler her sweet yes!
While the couple was preparing for their wedding, they looked at some old family photos and came across Kelsey’s baby book.
As the couple browsed through the photos and notes of baby Kelsey, Tyler noticed something.
The nurse who was taking Kelsey’s footprints looked a lot like his mom.
They looked for the certificate where the nurse had put the footprints, and it was confirmed.
It was Tyler’s mom, Nurse Mary Ann, who helped deliver baby Kelsey.
“You delivered Kelsey!” Tyler sent his mother a text.
Then, they sent some photos, and Mary Ann recalled taking care of the sweet little girl.
Who would have known that after more than two decades, Kelsey will meet the kind woman who helped deliver her?
Kelsey felt so excited about what they found, so she told her mom about their discovery.
As they talked about how she was born, Stacy Poll, Kelsey’s mother, recalled the kind woman who never left her side.
Stacy remembered how nervous she was.
She was in pain. She felt anxious and worried, but Nurse Mary Anne held her hand and helped her calm down.
In an interview with Inside Edition, Stacy recalled taking many photographs of nurse Mary Ann because she felt so grateful to her.
As the whole family rewatched Stacy’s birthing video, everyone became emotional.
“It was really sweet that both of them held me the same day that I came in to this world,” Kelsey said.
Everything became more special.
What were the odds of that little baby coming back to Nurse Mary Ann’s life and becoming her family?
Last May 29, 2023, Kelsey and Tyler tied the knot.
After more than two decades, the newborn baby that Nurse Mary Ann helped deliver officially became her daughter-in-law.
Stacy and Nurse Mary Ann also became closer than ever.
“Twenty two years ago, I put that sweet baby girl in Stacey’s arms, and now, we both get to hold her for the rest of our lives,” Nurse Mary Anne said, while looking at Stacy.
The two loving mothers hugged and smiled.
