There’s huge hatred and resentment towards law enforcement agencies not just in the United States but throughout the world. For some people, it’s because of abuse of power. For others, it’s their inability to do their job properly. While it’s true that some police officers are guilty of those things, there are still good cops out there.
One man was fed up with the media trashing the police all the time.
He got tired of seeing cop hate not just on TV but social media, too. It was literally everywhere.
He came up with a plan to show his appreciation for police officers.
His plan wasn’t that grand. In fact, it was just a simple gesture of kindness.
He decided to give away $5 gift cards.
When he came up with the idea, he didn’t have a ton of money. All he could do was 4 $5 gift cards.
He shared:
“I didn’t have a whole lot of money at the time, but I wanted to do something to let them know not everyone hates the police. So i figured I’d do some $5 gift cards, so I could impact multiple people and they could get maybe an ice cream or something.”
Part of the plan was to film it.
His purpose was to show people how something so small can greatly impact one’s day. Plus, he sincerely wants to let police officers know that not everyone hates the police.
His day started by getting the gift cards.
It was easy at first. In fact, he didn’t have a hard time getting the cards. However, when he came to the next part, he struggled a bit.
He had a hard time finding police officers on his way.
They were either too busy or on the other side of the road. Despite the difficulty, the man persevered and continued his search.
Finally, he saw his first police officer.
He greeted the officer and told him that he got something for him. To that, the police responded:
“You don’t have to do that.”
Upon hearing the officer’s response, the guy immediately told him his reason.
“This is just thanks for everything you do in the community,” he said.
It didn’t take a long time for the man to complete his mission.
He was able to hand out gifts to cops and upload the video on YouTube. There, it was able to earn nearly 12 million views.
One of the viewers was touched by his actions since his dad is also a cop. He shared:
“My dad is a police. I love the support you have for them. He is getting a lot of hate, every single day a new person says to him that he deserves to die. I’m so glad you have a heart for the people that deserve it.”
There was also this viewer who was touched by the video’s message. She said:
“I wish we could see this more often. So much hate in this world.”
