Charles and Michelle from Wanaque, New Jersey had one major thing in common – they both had really long hair. But after years of avoiding the salon, the couple decided it was finally time to ditch their lengthy dos and embrace change.
Fortunately, the Rachael Ray Show was there to give them the ultimate double-makeover. It’s a fun and inspiring transformation segment that leads to fabulous results!
It’s pretty normal to get stuck in a routine when it comes to your looks. That’s kinda what it was like for 58-year-old Charles and 50-year-old Michelle.
Let’s start with Charles. He’s a former rocker that couldn’t seem to get away from his jeans and t-shirts. But hey, at least he’s comfortable!
When it came to Charles’ hair – let’s just say it had gotten to be a Rapunzel length. He hadn’t of gotten it cut in 10 years and it really showed. Even their 17-year-old daughter had never seen her dad with a short style.
Despite having a rock-and-roll look, Charles actually has a corporate job and wanted to “look more the part.”
Another great benefit that would come from a haircut was that he’d be donating it to the charity, Locks of Love.
Let’s move on to Michelle. Believe it or not, it had been 21 years since the wife and mother saw a stylist!
Michelle works as a lunch lady at a school, so is dressed in a uniform all-day, five days a week. Then when she gets home, ‘time to break out the comfy clothes.’
She too came from a rock-and roll-past, being that she was always drawn to the musician-type. No wonder Charles and Michelle were a match made in Heaven.
Although the New Jersey mom had graying hair, it doesn’t mean that she was actually “old.” Michelle felt great inside and wanted her outside to reflect it.
She explained:
“I want to kind of look how I feel. I feel like a young, fun, casual mom and that’s what I want to look like.”
Rachael Ray has had numerous makeovers on her television program that have made jaws drop. It was time to see what would happen with Charles and Michelle.
In the segment below, Rachael invited famous stylist and reality-tv star, Tabatha Coffey, on to help with the double-transformation. You might remember her from the Bravo series, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover.
The very first thing to do was chop off Charles’ hair. But instead of doing it backstage (which would be no fun for us), Rachael was gifted the opportunity to cut his thigh-length locks in front of the audience.
As it turns out, Charles’ hair was so thick it had to be placed in four ponytails for the chop. Rachael cuts the first one, and there was no going back after that.
The host was having so much fun that she stole Tabatha’s job and cut the rest of them off too. Locks of Love would be getting a beautiful present with all of the hair they had to donate.
Charles and Michelle’s daughter was invited on stage for the huge reveal. She was excited to see her mom and dad with brand new looks!
Once the door finally opened the teen couldn’t hold back her shocked reaction. With their makeovers, the couple appeared younger, sexier, and even more vibrant. As their daughter put it, “They look fabulous!”
