I think everyone can agree that this world needs a lot more love and a little less hatred.
Rosalyn Baldwin knows this, and she has made it her mission to spread love. Rosalyn became aware of the deadly police shootings taking place across the country, and she wanted to do something about it.
She decided that she was going to give a hug to at least one police officer in every state.
The more the better. She told her parents that she wanted to show all the law enforcement officers that she appreciates everything they do to keep people safe.
She and her mom decide to plan a trip across the country to spread love and hugs wherever they go. So Rosalyn Loves was created. Her mom, Angie, explained:
“We talked about it and we kind of explained to her that this is society, that this is the way things happen, but she said, ‘No, they need to know I love them.’”
Rosalyn understood that this was the ways things are but didn’t think I was how they had to be.
She thought that a little love could go a long way, and she was going to try her best to make these police officers feel a little better.
Her mom talked about her mission:
“Rosalyn’s mission is to journey throughout the country as a beacon of light, love, and hope. She wishes to unite communities by demonstrating her sincere love and appreciation, for those who have committed their lives to serving and protecting the people of our nation.”
Rosalyn has already traveled to 26 states, where she has met with many police officers and offered up plenty of hugs and love.
Her little spirit can lighten any mood and she is always full of smiles, laughter, and sunshine. She is looking forward to visiting the other 24 states and meeting police officers in each of them.
Little Rosalyn is making a big difference in the lives of the police officers she meets. They all walk away feeling a little better and knowing that their work hasn’t gone unappreciated. Rosalyn may be young, but she knows how much love matters.
Denver Sheriff Patrick Firman talked about his meeting with Rosalyn and how it changed the mood in the department.
He said:
“To have somebody come in and share love like Rosalyn does and just reassure people that there are people out there praying for us and that there are people out there thinking about us in positive ways, means the world to the staff.”
She even got a special surprise at the Denver station, where she got to meet a K9 ‘Officer:’
Rosalyn hopes to be a veterinarian someday, so this ‘officer’ definitely stood out to her!
During the last few years, there have been a lot of police shootings and violence. Some people feel that the police are being too careless with their own actions and are attempting to harm them as a form of revenge. Other people simply don’t respect the law and think that the police are out to get them.
They would rather spend their time spreading hate and ignorance than being like Rosalyn and spreading love and compassion.
If more people stopped to think about their actions and chose to do the right thing, the world might be a better place.
Rosalyn plans to continue to travel and meet with other police officers across the country. She hopes that her actions and her story will motivate other people to spread love or at least stop spreading hate.
She also hopes that other people will take the time to thank the police officers and law enforcement in their own hometowns or anywhere they travel. It might just make their day and send out some positive vibes into the world.
