When U.S. Army soldier Mr. Glascott met a businessman on a flight on his way home, he didn’t think much about it. The two men talked briefly during the flight, but Glascott never expected to see him again.
Glascott mentioned that he was headed home on leave.
He was meeting up with his family to go to the Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate his return from deployment and his son’s ninth birthday. The men continued to make small talk during the flight and ultimately parted ways once it landed. Glascott had a great reunion with his family, and they headed off to celebrate at the lodge. When the family arrived at the check-in counter, they got a big surprise. The receptionist told him that there was a note on the Glascott account. The family was surprised and a bit worried.
They were hoping to enjoy a relaxing time on their trip and didn’t want to run into any problems.
The receptionist explained:
“You have a message on your account, from Brad.”
The family was puzzled. The receptionist went on to say that Brad was wishing them a good time from Atlanta. Mr. Glascott realized that Brad was the man he had met on the plane.
He thought that it was nice of him to check in on the family and to leave a friendly note.
There was more to it than that, though. Mr. Glascott took out his wallet and got ready to pay, when the receptionist informed him that his bill was taken care of and he didn’t have to worry about anything.
The family was shocked. The stranger that Mr. Glascott had met one a plane had paid for the family’s stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. The family was incredibly grateful for the man’s gesture. Mr. Glascott and his wife were in tears over it.
Mrs. Glascott explained that she thrilled that someone thought enough about them to do something so kind.
She wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen to them. She was happy to learn that there are people out there who appreciate everything that military families sacrifice and go through and are willing to do something kind for them.
She explained how she had prayed for her husband’s safe return every night and how she was looking forward to his safe return. She was so glad to have her husband back home with them and was looking forward to enjoying some fun with him. The fact that Brad had gone out of his way to make the trip even better for them was amazing to her.
The family had a blast and really got to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
Mr. Glascott’s son got the best gift of all, having his dad home. The family will never forget how the stranger Mr. Glascott met on a plane helped them have such a great trip.
Mrs. Glascott says she is a firm believer that it only takes one person to do a kind gesture for more to see it and do the same. The family is adamant about sharing their story to not only thank the man but to show everyone how much his kind gesture means to their family. She hopes that it will inspire other people to do random acts of kindness, too.
While military families can really use some kindness in their lives, there is no limit who you can help or how much you can give.
Even the smallest gestures can make a big difference in someone’s life. The Glascott family plans on paying it forward, and they hope others will do the same.
