It’s a tradition in many families that a father walks his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day. Sadly though, not all men ever have the chance to be part of that special moment.

When Ally Polries lost her father soon before her wedding day, it was devastating that he wouldn’t be there to celebrate the milestone. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t there in spirit.

During the reception, a speech was read out-loud that had been written by the bride’s father, Paul, before he passed. The heartfelt message was so powerful there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Ally was just days away from marrying the love of her life, Derek, when their worlds got flipped upside-down. Instead of walking her down the aisle – her dad would be watching from up above.

The news of Paul’s passing was completely unexpected and sudden. In fact, he had even picked up his rental tux and penned a congratulatory speech for Ally and Derek, thinking he’d be there.

That’s why, in her husband’s honor, Ally’s mom Jeanne decided to read his words during the newlywed’s reception. She even wore his bow-tie, which she felt Paul would get a kick out of because of his “dry sense of humor.”

Revelations Video was there to film the touching scene as Jeanne delivered Paul’s final message. Get ready for goosebumps.

The speech starts out:

“On the day that Ally was born, as a new father, I imagined two events in her life – her college graduation, and this, her wedding day. So today is really a realization of that dream and it takes me back to what made this day possible.”

Paul’s speech then explains how his daughter formed a relationship with Derek while studying abroad in China. His humor comes through at different points leading the room to chuckle.

Jeanne then reads:

“Around the time that Hurricane Irma hit Florida, I was thinking about what advice I would give Ally and Derek as they start this new adventure. A hurricane made landfall on Florida peninsula at Marco Island, the very spot that we have spent countless family vacations.”

After the terrible event, there were actually some words of wisdom that Paul was inspired by. In a Facebook post, he had read, “The worst storms test the strengths of our anchors.”

From that message of hope, Paul formed his own advice for the married couple.

“My advice to you is to focus on your anchors. Few young couples have been through the bad storm you’ve been through this year. “

The speech continued:

“The love you have for each other is the most important anchor. Work at staying in love, share your goals, stay optimistic about the future, share your interests and support each other. Each of you has the most important thing in your life …”

Jeanne had tears in her eyes reading her husband’s words.

“Keep your faith, and remember the people who you love, and loved you, and have passed away. I would like to make a toast, that your lives together have many sunny days and that your anchors are strong enough to hold you steady in life’s storms. I give you my wholehearted blessing, best wishes, congratulations. We love you both.”

Paul’s speech was so heart-tugging that it filled the room with emotions. Revelations Video shared on YouTube:

“This was by far, the most difficult wedding we’ve ever filmed…But also the most beautiful and captivating one. The love this father had for his daughter was so real and unmistakable. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture these special moments.”
