Abby and Brittany Hensel are two kind-hearted sisters that have been fascinating the world for years. That’s because despite being conjoined twins, it hasn’t stopped them from making great accomplishments and leading “normal” lives.

One exciting time for the ladies was when they were hired as elementary school math teachers! Fortunately, cameras were rolling as they prepared to start their new jobs – a video that’s been watched more than eight million times online.

Abby and Brittany were born March 7, 1990, in New Germany, Minnesota. They’re a rare form of conjoined twins called “dicephalic parapagus twins” – where it appears that they share a single body.

Each sister has control of one arm and one leg, but in reality, they have separate hearts, lungs, stomachs, and are different heights. Starting when the twins were little they learned how to coordinate their movements in activities like walking.

There are other parts of the body they do only have one of. For example, they share a large intestine, liver, and reproductive organs.

According to BBC, Abby and Brittany also have their own likes, dislikes, and personality traits. This means they have to find compromises on a daily basis.

Fortunately, though, they get along extremely well and enjoy similar activities like traveling, driving, and being with friends. They’re so close that they’ll say the same thing at the same time (or complete the other’s sentence).

The Hensel sisters have been featured on television programs like Oprah, and in 2012 received their own TLC show called Abby and Brittany.

Over time, the twins have had many life moments captured on film. One that stole everyone’s attention is when they were hired as teachers.

In the clip below, it follows Abby and Brittany as they get ready for their first day of school as 4th and 5th-grade math instructors. While the experience might be nerve-racking for someone their own, they were lucky enough to be going through it together!

When the twins were five they used to have different opinions in regard to career aspirations. One wanted to be a dentist, while the other wanted to be a pilot.

Their mom Patti was sure that they were going to be amazing teachers because of their connection with kids. She explained:

“I think it’s gonna go well for them because they’ve just always had a knack with kids and kids have always kind of been drawn to them. You know, maybe it started by curiosity, but once their simple questions are answered, they are still just as drawn to Abb and Britt for some reason.”

The school principal and staff were thrilled about having the sisters come on board. In fact, they were so blown away after their interview they knew they had to snatch them up.

Principal Good shared that there were actually 175 applicants going for the part-time position. However, they were very impressed by Abby and Brittany’s “exuberance” and “math knowledge.”

He described what happened after they left their interview.

“I came into the room and before I even sat down one of the people said, ‘Run after them, hire them, give them the job!'”

Abby and Brittany’s excitement for their first-day was apparent as they prepared for their new careers as educators.

Although it can be hard to find a good teacher – the school was lucky when they discovered two! The twins even shared a few details regarding salaries and contracts.
