If there’s anything this pandemic has taught us, it’s to love and treasure your friends and family every single day.
An elderly man got reunited with his sister, and this moment had everyone laughing, crying, and everything in between all at the same time. Imagine the memories and the stories shared!
Mary Pine is a sweet 95-year-old lady. Her brother, Bob Taylor, is 84. They always stayed in touch but as is with pandemic restrictions, they hadn’t seen each other in five years.
And when you’re at that age, five years is a lot.
The last time the siblings met was when Mary traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, surprising her brother at his home.
On July 4, Bob decided it was his turn. After all, it was Mary’s birthday. Bob asked his granddaughters, Morgan Taylor, 27, and Kenzie Hardin, 24, to take care of the arrangements so he could surprise his big sister in her care facility in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
Flying wasn’t an option. Kenzie Hardin lived in Florida so she had to make her way to Atlanta just to meet Bob and Morgan. The trio drove to Pennsylvania, stopping only for gas and bathroom breaks during the 13 hour drive.
On July 4, facility staff called Mary into a room, with the elderly lady wondering what was going on.
Family members greeted her with an enthusiastic Happy Birthday, surprising Pine. When she laid eyes on Bob, tears started falling, with the siblings finally reunited. Bob and Mary hugged, a hug that spanned 5 long years.
“It definitely pulled some heartstrings,” Taylor said. “I’m so happy he got the opportunity to see her again and her reaction was priceless. I know they were both overwhelmed with joy and love and that’s all I could ask for as a granddaughter. Hearing them reminisce on old times and tell stories like they happened yesterday was so heartwarming.”
This has to be the best birthday ever!
“I’m so thankful my family worked together to pull this amazing surprise off,” she said. “It was so great seeing all of them.”
The wonderfully sweet reunion was posted on YouTube, and as expected, viewers were all smiles and tears seeing the elderly siblings reunited once more.
One wrote,
“Wow. Imagine being 94 and still bless to say “I’m going to surprise my big sister.” Unbelievable. That close in age you know they were each other childhood playmates, like twins.”
Another viewer said,
“So beautiful! We need this thank you for sharing. Love keeps us connected no matter how long it’s been or where we end up in life. Love remains till we see each other again..So happy for them and the family. Many blessings!”
Many others remembered their own grandparents.
“Grandparents are precious, I only have one left who will be turning 94 in September, I make sure to visit her every time i have the chance bc I never know when it’ll be my last chance to spend time w/her,” one said.
If your grandparents are still around, do give them a hug and a kiss. They are truly wonderful and deserve so much love from us. We take family relationships for granted. It’s about time we changed that. Happy Birthday, Mary!
