Have you ever dreamt of becoming a famous singer with a powerful vocal range or you just want to sound good whenever you sing at karaoke or even in the shower? Well, if you have a pair of vocal folds that can produce sounds and differentiate a low note from a high note, then you can definitely learn how to sing!
In fact, 98.5 population an be a great singer with the proper training and discipline.

Natural talent aside, most of us can be taught how to sing. We were all born with the key ingredients of a singing voice which can be further improved by years of training.
Some kids, however, seem like they’ve done years of practice when you hear them sing. Just like 9-year old DCorey Johnson from Louisville, Kentucky.

Dcorey’s school, Bates Elementary School, recently discovered that the child has a secret talent. He was first asked by the principal, Alicia Dunn, who said she was at a loss for words after hearing the child’s larger-than-life voice.
“I really didn’t know what to expect and when he was finished I couldn’t finish the announcements,” Dunn said.

Nowadays, the school begins its day with the usual morning announcements followed by DCorey singing the National Anthem.
“I never got to sing the National Anthem before but now they want me to sing at a baseball [game] and football [game] and at a school and everywhere, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my Jesus!’” Johnson said.

“DCorey started off singing at St. Stephen Baptist Church, he was a little bitty thing and he’d hum along to the song and he would raise his hand and praise the Lord,” Nakia said. “So, we ended up putting him in the choir when he was four years old. I knew the little boy was gifted then.”

But when DCorey was first asked to sing over the intercom for the first time, he admitted that he didn’t know all the words to the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’. But because of his natural talent, he was able to quickly memorize all the words.
“I pick up everything real fast like ‘1, 2, 3, 4,'” DCorey said while snapping his fingers. “Like that, and I love singing.”

“At Bates we are considered a leader and me school,” she said. “Within that leader in me, school is all about finding the child’s strengths and finding their passions and finding their talents and building that child within inside out. Every child has something fabulous about them.”

At such an early age, DCorey already has envisioned a plan for his future.
“My dream and goal is to be famous and on Broadway and showing people who I really am,” Johnson said.
