For two years in a row, 7-year-old Skylar Hamerter looked forward to the dad-daughter dance that they hold at her school. Each time, she got all dressed up and ready, however, when the time came for her dad to pick her up, he never arrived. She was stood up by the man twice. It broke both her and her mom, Trelysia Hamerter’s, hearts.

Yet, this year, Skylar’s older brother stepped in to save the day.

Hamerter posted about the beautiful act of sibling kindness in a Facebook post that has since been liked thousands of times.

“This is the 2nd year that my daughter’s father stood her up for the Daddy/ daughter dance. She cried because she had her heart set on going,” said Hamerter.

Hamerter couldn’t bear seeing how upset it made her daughter, but sadly, it wasn’t an easy situation to rectify.

After all, a mom can’t really go to a dad-daughter dance with her daughter. That would just be awkward.

“I felt so bad because there was nothing I could do because I’m not a male (obviously),” said Hamerter.

That’s when Skylar’s brother Christian came to the rescue.

He might only be 11-years-old, but he knows all about what it means to treat a woman right. He is a man of honor and integrity.

“Then her big brother stepped in and said he’d take her because he wanted his sister to know that she deserves a man keeping his word and making her feel special… y’all I literally cried,” said Hamerter.

There are not many 11-year-olds who would willingly go to a school dance with their younger sister.

Most siblings at that age are busy picking on each other instead. However, Christian is not your average brother. He hated the idea of his sister not getting to go to her dance, so he put on a blue suit and gold bow tie and offered to be her date. The bow tie was so he that he would match Skylar who wore a beautiful gold dress with a very cute miniature purse. Both of them looked amazing.

In the photos of the two of them, you can clearly see how happy it made Skylar that she wasn’t going to get stuck at home again.

What could have been a very sad night ended up being an amazing memory for the family, and of course, it made Hamerter very proud as a mom.

Her son’s kind gesture proved that all of her hard work raising the kids to be good people was paying off.

“Just know that I’m raising someone a GREAT HUSBAND one day,” said Hamerter.

She is definitely doing a fantastic job as a mom, no thanks to the kid’s father. The absentee dad is nowhere to be found and it’s likely that this is the last time Skylar will ever invite him to attend the dad-daughter dance with her. He has proved himself to be completely unreliable. Luckily though, there is another man in the family who knows exactly how to make a girl feel special.
