Jo Dee Messina’s life was not typical of a country music star. Over the years, she has been through challenges both financial and health-related.
It was at her lowest moment that a miracle happened that changed her life for the better.
A porch visit with God.
On September 2017, Messina shared with her fans that she was diagnosed with cancer.
Shared on her official website, jodeemessina.com, “Over the years, Jo Dee has built a close relationship with her fans, so those of us at Team JDM wanted to be the first to let you know that she was recently diagnosed with cancer,” said in the statement. “It has been a trying summer, but her heart has been filled with gratitude for the many opportunities she has had to see God’s hand at work.”
She had a miracle coming.
She shared in an interview with local radio that there was a day when all just came tumbling in.
Financial challenges followed.
From the lapsed insurance to bounced checks, she was not prepared for the burden that came along with the diagnosis.
She added that since the tours were canceled, no money was coming in that can be circulated.
She had had legal processes and papers which she mentioned were “never fun to get.”
She managed to stay strong and faithful ever since her argument with Jesus Christ on her front porch.
Jesus Christ saved her.
“If you’ve walked my life in the last five years, it has not been a typical life,” Messina shared this encounter. “Not a lot of it goes out in press which is great because a lot of it is painful, and a lot of it is hurtful, and a lot of it’s scary.”
Then Messina mentioned that one day, Jesus Christ walked onto her front porch and they “argued all day”.
He came at her when she was at her lowest.
She further added that she was trying to sustain a career and a lifestyle, along with her family.
She was down and Jesus Christ just came to her.
Messina at that time knew very little about Jesus. But after the encounter, she went to her next-door neighbor so he could tell her about Him.
She said in an interview, “I know the stories, that he was born on Christmas and died on Easter.”
She further explained that by having an intimate relationship with God, you’ll feel His love for you, more than you can imagine.
He gives according to the glory of His riches.
Ever since “the argument” Messina has been passionate about her faith in God.
It provides her with the courage to keep going and do what she likes most: performing and making music.
In 2019, she was invited to perform live, and loved that she was still remembered.
Miracle upon mircale.
Now, Messina is back on track and has recently shared a glimpse of her tour schedule all across the United States.
