When you been in and around town a number of times for so many years, you think you’ve seen all and know how everything will turn out in the end. Jeannie Mitchell, a bus driver who works for the Milwaukee County Transit System, was driving around town taking her regular Route 35 trip as she normally does until the most unexpected thing occurred right before her eyes.

Two underage children – the eldest one aged five, whereas the youngest age one – happen to be walking on the sidewalk, seemingly lost. From the looks of it, Jeannie could feel that the two were frightened and it was at this moment that her motherly instincts kicked right in and she knew she had to do something and fast.

Jeannie immediately stopped the bus and open the bus doors to call out to the lost youngsters and immediately asked them:

“Sweetie, where y’all going? Who are you with?”

Silence Equals Worry

Their silence urged Jeannie to walk right over to them and ensure the children that she was not a threat nor even a “stranger” that children aren’t usually allowed to converse with. She asked them what happened and how they ended up where they are now. Jeannie feared that the situation might’ve gotten worse if she hadn’t encountered the children sooner.

One thing Jeannie was indeed thankful for was that these two precious little angels all nicely wrapped up in their snuggly, adorably thick little jackets to help them stay warm and keep out of the rain and cold.

After ensuring the kids that Jeannie was someone they could trust, the very caring bus driver brought the two little darlings inside the bus to keep them safe and warm. During that time, Jeannie contacted the police right away so they can determine what the situation really is. Upon doing so, they discovered that the kids walked away from their babysitter for whatever reason.

A Happy Reunion

The kids, at least the elder one, knew that a relative was living nearby and while they were making their way over there, they suddenly lost their way. There was no word on how much time had passed between then and when Jeannie found them, but it didn’t feel like a long time, which thankfully, was a real relief for Jeannie as well as their worried mother when she was informed about the whereabouts of her lost children.

Jeannie was more than happy to help out the mother as she knows what it’s like to lose a child when her own five-year-old son, about 15 years ago, went missing for over 12 hours while staying at her relative’s house. To a regular person, it doesn’t seem like a long time, but to a mother, losing their child for even a minute would worry them to no end. It was all thanks to the kind act of a random stranger who found her boy and returned him home. It’s funny how history repeats itself, except Jeannie was the caring stranger in this story.
