This story will surely tug at your heartstrings.

Siblings who are under the foster care system are oftentimes separated from each other. It’s indeed heartbreaking because they’d be separated from the only family member that they have. Lucky are those who are given the chance to stay and live under the same roof together.

Tre and Ke’lynn are brothers who were under the care of the Child Protective Custody for three and a half years. During those years, the two spent most of their time living in separate foster homes.

No one deserves to be in such a predicament, let alone children like them. They, of course, wanted to be together, however, they were given that inevitable situation. It’s double the pain because they must heal from their trauma while living separately.

But when the brothers met WFAA anchor Cynthia Izaguirre back in 2017, everything changed!

It was November of that year when Izaguirre met the young brothers Tre and Ke’Lynn who were just 10 and 7 years old, respectively.

“I want to see him every day and I don’t,” Ke’Lynn told WFAA during their meeting together with some officers from the Dallas Police Department.

Izaguirre asked Tre, “You guys are just about all each other has anymore, right? So you want to make sure you’re with him, right?” The then 10-year-old kid only responded with a nod as the poor boy started to cry.

As much as they wanted to be with each other, sadly, the brothers were only given once-a-month visitation rights. At such a young age, Tre and Ke’Lynn were already facing the sad reality of their fate under the foster care system.

Emotional damage.

That’s what they felt, in fact, they never wanted to be separated whenever they were together. Just imagine the amount of pain these young kids had to endure during their once-a-month meetings.

When the news anchor finally asked Tre, “If you could have any wish come true right now, what would that wish be?” The then 10-year-old boy had a straightforward answer that hit right through her gut, “To live with him.”

While Tre’s tears were rolling down his cheeks, Izaguirre told him with a very assuring tone, “We’re gonna do our very very best to make sure that happens.”

Tre and Ke’Lynn’s story was featured in Wednesday’s Child story and luckily, one kindhearted was tuned in to his television that day.

A month later, that man decided to do the right thing.

“I was crying mostly because it just pulled at my heartstrings, and I felt an instant connection with the boys, and I said I’ve got to figure out a way to get these boys in my home and learn more about them,” Dr. Robert Beck said while recalling what he felt upon seeing the boys’ story.

Tre and Ke’lynn eventually lived with Beck then but there was nothing formal about them being adopted. They needed to wait until the adoption papers were ready.

On July 18, 2018, Beck brought the boys to a North Texas courtroom. The unsuspecting brothers thought they were just there to take some pictures. Little did they know, it was the day they had long been waiting for.

It’s adoption day for the two boys! Finally, after seven months of being separated, the day had come for them to start living together. They started a brand new chapter of their lives together with their loving father, a new older brother, and a village of helpers.

As fate would have it, Beck was also adopted and so was Tre and Ke’lynn’s new older brother whom he also saw in a Wednesday’s Child story. Turns out, he adopted three children from Wednesday’s Child segments.
