Most individuals are good. But sometimes, people get desperate, which leads to them doing stupid things. Unfortunately, these actions can hurt other people. No matter why someone commits a crime, an innocent person should never be the target.

But whenever this happens, it’s important for someone steps up to help protect the victim. Luckily, some individuals have no problem stepping in to keep the innocent and vulnerable safe. And when we see that happening, it’s something to celebrate.

A horrible incident

Something like that happened not too long ago in Stafford, England. A pensioner who was also a veteran was standing outside selling poppies as a way to make money to donate to charity. He was minding his own business…simply trying to do something positive for the community.

He was attacked

The elderly man was suddenly attacked by a 43-year-old man by the name of Steven Norman. He planned to steal the money collected by the man.

Not the attacker’s lucky day

Steven might’ve thought he could easily get away with committing this crime. But that wasn’t the case. A group of people saw what was happening. They knew they needed to take action to help the pensioner.

The bystanders were bikers

That’s right, the people who caught Steven were a group of bikers. They weren’t going to put up with his abuse, especially toward an elderly man. So, one of them held Steven in a headlock until the police arrived.

Steven plead guilty

Steven knew he’d been caught and there wasn’t anything he could do about it. Since he pleaded guilty to the crime, he didn’t have to go to jail. But the court did order him to pay several hundreds of pounds to make up for his horrible action.

Recording the altercation

Mr. Burrows was part of the group. He wanted to make sure he had video evidence of what was happening. He said Steven was watching the victim from a nearby hotel. That’s when he followed the victim up the street.

Calling the police

According to Burrows, “’He turned and ran in the wrong direction, straight into the Oxleather Motorcycle Club, which probably wasn’t the cleverest escape plan. As shown in the video, they grabbed hold of him. “I originally went up to him and gave him some home truths about what he’s done and reflect on it,” said one of the members.

Trying to turn the tables

That’s when Steven claimed he’d been assaulted by the bikers. But the group wasn’t having it.

Burrows said, “He started accusing the lads of assault because apparently, this man is very good at the thieving stuff, but when it comes down to somebody standing up to him, he cries assault so that he becomes the victim. I took the video to protect the lads really. I wanted to make it aware that if there are any more veterans within Staffordshire that might need help ringing the police.”

A well-known member of the community

Come to find out, the people who lived around where the crime occurred knew the elderly mane quite well. That included plenty of servicemen who’d done work for the same organization the man was collecting money for. So, nobody was going to tolerate anyone hurting him.

Keeping the neighborhood safe

These bikers are true heroes. They did what they had to do to keep their neighborhood safe. They should be an inspiration to all of us.
