It’s reunion season!
No, we aren’t saying to go get back together with that toxic ex, we are saying that it’s time to get excited about the ABBA reunion!
It’s not a joke, either!
It’s true, ABBA is getting back together!
ABBA is a Swedish pop group that took a break about 40 years ago.
Don’t know them by name? You surely know them by their work. I mean, Dancing Queen, Take a Chance on Me, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”, Mamma Mia and more.
Need I say more?
Even if you aren’t aware of them consciously, you’ve surely found yourself in the grocery store absentmindedly singing one of their hits.
The group started in 1972 and was one of the most influential pop bands of the ’70s and early ’80s.
“ABBA is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with record sales estimated to be between 150 million and 385 million sold worldwide and the group was ranked 3rd best-selling singles artists in the United Kingdom with a total of 11.3 million singles sold by 3 November 2012. ABBA was the first group from a non-English-speaking country to achieve consistent success in the charts of English-speaking countries.” – Wikipedia
They eventually split after their success caused their relationships to suffer.
The group consisted of two married couples and, as we all know, fame doesn’t seem to be that great for healthy relationships!
They recently reunited a few years ago, but now, it’s official. They are going to be releasing music.
Like all things, time has brought changes to the group
. It’s a good thing, truth be told.
They don’t look the same, but they are in a much better state mentally.
Their ability to produce hit after hit was truly astonishing.
The man who wrote so many of their hit melodies?
Benny Anderson. He has a magical touch when it comes to crafting catchy hits and tunes.
His record speaks for itself! His advice to write catchy music?
“I think a pop song should have something that you don’t expect it to have.”
When you look back on his career, he has done just that!
Their newest album came out only a few days ago.
It’s the first record they produced since they originally took a break so long ago.
After getting together in their studio in Stockholm, however, they picked up and immediately got into the groove that they used to.
The new music will reflect their new perspective on life.
It is going to be totally about them in their point in life.
Getting back together, getting older, and rekindling relationships.
The band was even named after their first names, creating the acronym, ABBA.
Since their Eurovision success so many years ago to now, they have come a long way and changed a lot.
We all grow and it looks like ABBA is growing too.
Is it going to be the same as it was in the ’70s? Probably not! Is that a bad thing? Not at all.
Check out how they’ve all changed in their interview below!
