Surviving death once is a miracle, but surviving twice is a message.
In October of 1997, a family’s life would be changed forever. A tragic stroke of fate tore them apart but through a miracle, a mother and son got to see a glimpse of heaven.
On their way home, Julie Kemp and her family were driving through the Mint-Hill Intersection when their car was T-boned by an ambulance.
The crash was fatal.
Julie’s husband’s seat flew backward, crushing the boy behind him. Eight-year-old Landon lost his life at that time.
Or at least, he was pronounced dead for a moment. First responders to the scene managed to revive Landon.
That was his first time dying.
Unfortunately, on the way to the Carolinas Medical Center, Landon began losing grip once more. He slipped to the other side yet again while they’re speeding through traffic.
He was revived once more, only to lose his life again while in the hospital.
It wasn’t the end for Landon, however.
Doctors and medical staff were successful in bringing the boy back. But losing his life several times on one occasion proved dangerous.
As Kemp explained in a video aired by CBN that even if Landon lived through the accident, his chances of living like a normal boy are slim.
They told Kemp that we would “live like an 8-year-old baby”. He wouldn’t know how basic functions like walking, talking, or eating.
Kemp didn’t want to lose Landon and was willing to take the odds.
The boy spent two full weeks in a coma. But he surprised everyone when he woke up not showing any sign of brain damage.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for his dad. Kemp still had to break the news to his little boy that daddy will not be coming back to them.
As she mustered her courage to face his reaction, she was surprised by Landon’s answer.
“I asked Landon. I said, ‘Do you know where your Dad is at?’” she said in the video. “And he told me, ‘Yes, I know where he’s at… I saw him in Heaven.’”
In the times that he was dead and asleep, Landon might have seen a glimpse of what lies after death. And to prove that he did, he shared something that only his parents knew.
He also told Kemp that he saw her “two other kids”.
Landon’s words described Kemp’s two miscarriages. They never shared these events with Landon so she was surprised that he knew about them.
“My mom had two miscarriages before me that I had never known about, never heard about,” Landon said to FOX.
“I was able to see them.”
Kemp may have lost her kids and her husband, but Landon assured her that they’re safe.
Landon grew up just fine despite what his doctors projected. He has 23 metal plates in his head, his nose was reconstructed, and he has lost vision in his left eye.
But despite the wounds and the scars they carried, they were also given a chance to heal.
Kemp has since written a book about her grief and Landon’s heavenly experience.
“These days I can thank God for giving me the strength to get through it,” Kemp told FOX.
“I didn’t see the strength when I was going through it – I saw the challenges and the hurt.”
