Adoption is a topic that not a lot of people talk about. There’s still a stigma around it because of a lot of misunderstanding about this subject.
But thankfully, there are some people who feel compelled to give a young child lots of love and a new home.

These people include Zenaya’s parents.
Mandisa Zenaya Mlitwa lives in South Africa with her adoptive parents. And one thing we have to mention is that Zenaya is African and her adoptive parents are white.
And yes, they have caught lots of people staring at them when they’re out.
She is the only child of her parents. They are super close and spend a lot of time together. Zenaya considers them as her best friends.
“I wanna take this opportunity and thank God, for putting these wonderful people in my path. I am an adopted child. I feel loved every single day. I wake up in the morning and I am hugged. I call when I am in trouble and my dad is right there within a short space of time,” Zenaya wrote on her Facebook post.

So it was devastating when Zenaya’s mother passed away from cancer in March 2020.
“This month last year, we lost my mom to cancer. So now it is just my pops and I. I always laugh when we are out and people think he is my sugar daddy,” Zenaya continued.
People still have a hard time guessing their relationship because of their skin color. But they just laugh it off and Zenaya just chooses to ignore them.
Zenaya just chooses to focus on her Pops, who loves her so much.
“They clothed me and took me to school and didn’t expect anything in return!! I feel loved every single day. My dad… takes me out on lunches… opens doors for me… hugs me every day… tells me he loves me, [and] helps me wash my hair njalo mangikade ngilukile. He makes me breakfast and I’m 21!! He buys me my favorite foods and drinks. He is my best friend!! I can even talk to him about dating. He is so cool!!” Zenaya praised her dad.
Zenaya’s parents are amazing people to have chosen to adopt.
Choosing to adopt in South Africa is not an easy decision to make, especially since it’s not an easy process. The legal process can be straightforward. But the societal process is not easy with so much judgment, even with the local community.
And it’s especially challenging for their situation since her parents are Caucasian and she’s African.
But her parents did not let anything stop them from loving a child and giving the child a new home. And they have given Zenaya so much in her life.
Zenaya is just grateful for everything they’ve given her. And she’s grateful to God for giving this loving couple to her as her parents.
“Thank you God, you took my mom but I still feel loved. And I will forever be grateful for her and my dad taking me in and loving me like their very own. RIP mom,” Zenaya ended her Facebook post.
We all know so many adoption stories that have turned out to be nightmares for either the parents or adoptees.
But there are so many more adoption stories that were a blessing for everyone involved. And Zenaya’s story is definitely one of them.
