Niko, a Washington D.C. native was visiting Nashville when he decided to try and earn some cash.

Niko’s competitive soccer team had been invited to play in Portugal, but unfortunately, the trips cost thousands of dollars and Niko’s family couldn’t afford the ticket.

His father had just had a heart attack and most of the family’s money was going to pay for the man’s medical bills.

Niko was told if he could raise one third of the cost, his family would manage to pay the rest.

Determined to go with his teammates to Portugal, Niko decided to open a lemonade stand in order to earn the funds he needed.

The temperature was 102 degrees when the boy started his hustle and the lemonades were popular among the Nashville residents.

When a TikTok famous couple saw the boy, they knew they needed to help.

Lexy and Austin Burke are Nashville natives and have amassed a huge following on TikTok, thanks in part to their Venmo challenges.

The Venmo challenge consist of them reaching out across their platform in order to raise money for worthy people and causes, and Niko definitely fit the bill.

In a little over 1 hour the couple managed to raise $1100 and shared Niko’s reaction with their fans.

When they got back to the lemonade stand Niko was still there and the couple decided to buy a glass of lemonade for $3 and hand him the envelope stuffed with cash, they told him to keep the change.

Niko’s face then he received the envelope and was told the money was all his light up and he was happy as could be.

He asked Lexy for a hug and held her tight as he said how grateful he was.

With the contribution from Lexy and Austin, Niko had raised his portion of the money for his trip to Portugal and he would be able to join the rest of his teammates.

After taking a moment to comprehend what had just happened, Niko then called his dad to share the news.

Niko’s dad, who was still in the hospital, got to speak to Lexy and thank her for helping his son.

Niko was the 170th recipient of the couples Venmo challenges and they had raised over $300,000 in their time doing it.

All the proceeds of these challenges goes to people who the couple believe are working hard and are deserving of the support.

Austin was especially keen on helping a lemonade stand as he used to do them with his siblings as well.

“Seeing how hard this kid was working in 102-degree weather is a type of work ethic you can’t teach. Niko is an extraordinarily special kid with big dreams and that’s something Lexy and I understand all too well.”
