Lucy Ledgeway, 19years-old, from York, England, recently lost her beloved dog who she had since she was six-years-old. The teen, along with her family were devastated at the loss of a very great friend.
Sunny is a Parson Russell Terrier who has been with the Ledgway family for 14 years. Last year, the pup was diagnosed with diabetes and other health issues that come with the disease and old age. She was not in good shape and just last month, the dog died in Lucy’s father’s arms after suffering from a seizure.

Somehow, the family knew at the back of their minds that Sunny’s days were numbered, but actually losing her was still more painful than they have anticipated. A day before Sunny passed, the dog even gave the family a beautiful day to remember as the pup was being overly energetic and happy that day. They never knew that it was the final day that they would ever spend with their beloved Sunny.
“She was in bed up until around 2 p.m., and then my brother got a bag of crisps out and started eating and she started sniffing up,” Lucy told Today. “It gave us a bit of hope, like, ‘Oh, so she’ll be all right.'”
But it was not meant for Sunny to live a longer life with the Ledgeways. She passed the following day and Lucy felt as if the world crashed. She was deeply saddened and her heart grieved, longing to spend another fun-filled day with her special friend,
Lucy was having a really difficult time, but then she noticed something that gave her comfort.
According to what Lucy told Today, the young woman shared with her boyfriend how she wished she could receive a sign that her Sunny is fine and in a good place. And she felt as if Sunny granted her wish after seeing a familiar face in the clouds as she and her boyfriend are driving around.
“I was in shock really, in disbelief,” the teen said. “The thing is, I was sad all day and then as soon as I saw her, it just made me laugh. It made me giggle to myself and it made me happy. And I think that happening has made it easier to grieve.”
She decided to share her experience on social media by posting on her Twitter account.
my dog passed away in my dads arms this morning seconds before setting off to the vets. later in the day we went out to clear our head and i cried to my boyfriend in the seat she died in, just begging for a sign that she’s okay. this is what I was blessed with🥺🐾 pic.twitter.com/4KVPZnDYDp

She was overwhelmed and truly believe that it was Sunny’s way of telling her that the dog is in a better place now.
Her post went viral and people online were quick to share their similar experience after losing their pets.
Omg, the EXACT SAME THING happened to us in April when our baby passed away!
Sending your family a lot of love and comfort during this difficult time!

People were touched by Lucy and Sunny’s story and decided to share their own.
When my boy passed I was sobbing for 3 days straight. On my way home from work I saw a Mini Schnauzer cloud crazy beard and all. Miss him every day. pic.twitter.com/txyw1a4NoV

However, not all people are in agreement with Lucy’s post and even called her photo fake.
They think the resemblance is not really clear, but for the young woman, her Sunny has definitely sent a message to her through the clouds that day.
“I’m grateful that I’ve seen that with my own eyes, and I know that it’s not fake,” Lucy further shared with Today.
The story even made it to the page of major newspapers and Ledgeway family members are equally happy to have the chance to share Sunny’s story and his face in the clouds.
“Thank you so much for all of your lovely kind comments, and on Twitter too, we will never forget you our darling Sunny,” Lisa Ledgeway wrote on her post in Facebook.
Some people believe it was really Sunny’s face in the clouds while there are also people that the story is not true. Whatever the case may be, the important part is that the Ledgeways, especially Lucy, have found something to give them comfort in the midst of the grief they are experiencing after losing their beloved Sunny.
