Bridesmaid won’t let her dress go to waste and wears it to run errands and do chores
We couldn't stop laughing about the photos one woman took of doing chores in her old dress so it wouldn't go to waste.

Have you ever read a story about someone and thought “I really want to be that person’s friend”? That’s how we feel about a woman named Heidi Mann.

Mann’s comment on her friend Tammi Sauer’s wedding anniversary post showed that bridesmaid dresses don’t always go to waste, no matter how dated they are.

In fact, a bridesmaid dress is perfect for everyday tasks – at least, if you have a sense of humor.

We dish out lots of cash for these dresses only to wear them for one day. Then, they end up getting donated or sitting in our closets for decades because we can’t bear to throw away something so expensive.

And, of course, these dresses don’t exactly have a reputation for being attractive, to begin with.

In this case, the dresses are over 20 years old, so while they’re by no means terrible, they are…let’s just say “out of style.”

“Apparently, not everyone in 1995 wanted a long, off-the-shoulder gown in a burgundy brocade fabric that looked like a Thanksgiving tablecloth,” Sauer joked to BuzzFeed News. “Those dresses were handmade by moms, grandmas, and random seamstresses.”

But when Sauer posted her wedding photo on Facebook along with a “sorry about the dresses” note, Mann shot back with a photo montage of just how much use she was still getting out of hers!

“These 22-year-olds are celebrating 22 years of marriage! Hubba-hubba. (My apologies for those dresses, ladies. This apology includes you, too, Joslyn Hanna),” her Facebook post read.

Mann says Sauer’s bridesmaid dress is just one of eight bridesmaids dresses she has in her closet, along with three prom dresses and an eighth-grade recognition dress.

Apparently, bridesmaids’ dresses are perfect for doing chores and hanging around the house.

Why not wear your finest while watering the grass, doing laundry, or just kicking back and reading a book?

“The way Tammi was so apologetic made me think about how almost every person whose wedding I’d been in hoped to be able to wear their dress again,” Mann told Scary Mommy. “I don’t blame them… I did the same thing to my bridesmaids. I was certain I was getting them dresses that they would be able to wear again. I wasn’t.”

For Sauer and Mann, the fun didn’t end there.

Back in 2020, years after the original post, the pair got together to reuse their dresses once again – both the bridesmaid dress AND the bridal gown!

Yep, that’s the pair at the grocery store, just strolling through the produce section in their wedding day best. Because, hey, why not?

Apparently, the local Whole Foods had seen it all, because no one looks terribly surprised to see two women in formalwear in the checkout lane.

To top it off, it looks like they’re walking out with a couple of pizzas! That’s seriously living the dream.

We’re pretty sure this bridesmaid dress has brought more joy to a person’s life than any other dress in history.

In fact, it almost makes us want to be in a wedding again, just so we can get creative!
