As kids get older they start to recognize and value the close bond that they share with their parents. That connection only continues to strengthen with age and wisdome.
The golden years are when they need our companionship the most. That is also the best time for grow up kids to show their gratitude and to give back for everything they’ve done for us.
It’s not easy as work and family often keeps us from being with our parents. The best way is to have someone we can trust in the same area. A relative, neighbor, or friend who is willing to check up on them every once in awhile.
A special teen
Tiki Joyner Edwards found a young man who earned her trust. And he wasn’t even related to her.
His name is Romemylion Mitchell. This teenager made it his personal mission to check on Tiki’s parents, Trent and Cianne Joyner, every day to see if they needed anything. And he’s not even blood related.
Not like the rest
In 2019, Tiki posted the story of Romemylion’s kind act on Facebook. The post and the young man went viral for all the right reasons.
“I just want to take a moment and recognize this sweet fella that lives across the street from my parents. He checks on them every day and has grown to love and care for them deeply,” Tiki wrote.
15-year-old Romemylion rides with her father to the store. Mitchell helps him shop for what he needs then assists him in bringing the groceries inside. Then he also cuts the grass and does chores and whatever else the elderly couple need.
“Not many 15 yr olds would take the time to care and be there for elderly neighbors,” she continued.
Shows up for others
Romemylion is surely a busy kid too. He’s got school work, a social life with kids his age, and many other responsibilities.
And yet he still has the time to volunteer for his neighbors.
Out of the kindness of his heart
Trent and Cianne didn’t even have to pay him for his time or work. Mitchell is so selfless and that’s why this story is so special. It’s a kindhearted boy giving a part of his day to helping an elderly couple.
He gives his time without asking for anything in return.
A special connection
Romemylion has in some way become part of the family. There’s a special bond between the boy and the couple. When Tiki’s mom was admitted to the hospital for a few months, Mitchell was there to see how she was doing.
“When he saw Mom today he busted out crying and just held her tight.. what a blessing and just wanted to pass on something heartwarming instead of the sad news we see and hear every day,” Tiki wrote.
This teenager will grow up to be a real gentleman. We can only expect good tings from Romemylion. A boy so selfless can only grow up to be an exceptional man. We can’t wait.
