We’ve all had some pretty crazy things happen to us in life, but they tend to be one-off occasions.
Some people, however, are living lives that sound too unbelievable to be true – like the woman in this story.
Rosalinda, who’s in her 70s, is mom to a child who isn’t biologically hers.
There’s nothing too unusual about that – but just wait until you hear how her son, back when he was a little boy, came into her life.
In a video she shared on TikTok, Rosalinda explained that she was looking after the young lad for his mom while she popped to the shops.
The boy was only supposed to stay for 1 hour, but he ended up living in Rosalinda’s house for 18 years.
Unbelievably, his mom had simply pretended that she was going shopping. Where she actually went is unknown, but one thing is certain: she wasn’t coming back for her son.
It had never been Rosalinda’s intention to raise a child, especially as she was only in her early twenties. She had even been told by doctors that it was highly unlikely that she could have her own children.
Rosalinda must have realized that she was the right person to raise the abandoned little boy: all the signs were there.
Explaining what happened from there in her video, Rosalinda said:
“That little boy stayed with me through my marriage that I’ve spoken about before, until he was 18 when he found his dad and left to start a new life with his father – and maybe his mother, I’m not sure.”
It must be difficult to accept that a child who isn’t biologically yours will instinctively want to find their parents when they’re old enough, even if those parents had abandoned them.
But fostering a child can also be incredibly rewarding, as Rosalinda had found out.
As a foster carer, you can make a huge difference to a vulnerable child’s life. You can teach them what’s right and what’s wrong, give them the stability of a roof over their heads, and encourage them to become confident and accepting of who they are.
Fostering can help you better yourself, too, as you’ll need plenty of patience and love to raise a child – and you might even learn some new skills.
Rosalinda soon realized that life without a child was nowhere near as exciting. So she made a big life decision.
In her video, she recalled what she did next, saying:
“I decided to become a foster parent. My first foster child was a little boy called Adeola. Over the years I’ve fostered many children and that led up to me getting my daughter.”
It was way back in 1990 that Rosalinda adopted the baby girl she now calls her own. She described Lola as “such a beautiful little baby”.
Lola has been by Rosalinda’s side ever since.
She’s now 30 years old, and often makes the time to appear in some of Rosalinda’s TikTok videos.
As if her experience with fostering isn’t interesting enough, Rosalinda also had more drama in her early twenties when she caught her husband in bed with her sister.
Her TikTok, mamarosalinda, has more than 50k followers – hardly surprising, given the stories she shares!
