General cleaning and home renovation can be tedious and exhausting. Still, good things come from finally going through with it: you find something you thought you’d lost for good, you can revamp your interiors, and you’re able to take leaps toward a more minimalistic lifestyle through decluttering, and you can even make money from garage sales.

There’s also the possibility that you’ll unearth treasures you didn’t think would be sitting right in your home.

Such is the case with a New Jersey family who made a fantastic discovery in the middle of doing renovations for their home. One minute, they were taking care of details for fixing up their home, and the next, they find a letter that takes them right back to the 1940s when romance was unlike any other.

Written by a woman named Virginia, the typewritten letter addressed to a man named Rolf read,

“I love you, Rolf, as I love the warm sun, and that is what you are to my life, the sun about which everything else revolves for me.”

Melissa felt just how special the love was between Rolf and Virginia as she read the letter, and right then, she knew she had to get in touch with the family to return it. She posted the letter on Facebook and, in no time, was able to connect with Virginia and Rolf Christoffersen’s family and speak with them via FaceTime.

Robin, the couple’s daughter, was incredibly grateful.

“It is a great insight into my mom’s thinking and how she always was a loving and committed wife. Thank you for saving that letter; we’re really gonna enjoy that.”

Rolf, the 96-year-old widower, was overcome with emotion as Robin read her late mother’s words back to her father.

There’s no use in picking at the details and making sense of every little thing – it was a wonderful stroke of luck, a beautiful reminder, and an experience to remember for the New Jersey couple.
