Finding the right furniture for your house with your specific budget is challenging, especially if you don’t have a big budget.
So when you find the right couch for your house and it’s free, it’s your lucky day!
Well, a woman from Southern California found that couch for her house for free. She found it on Craigslist and took it off the previous owner’s hands.
She was excited and had her son bring the couch inside her home. When she arranged it inside her home, she felt something inside the cushion. She thought it was a heating pad so she zipped open the cushion and guess what she found?
She found a couple of envelopes inside the cushion. Curious, she opened them to find hundreds of dollars inside!
In fact, there was a total of $36,000 hidden inside the couch.
She shouted at her son that she found the money and they needed to call the guy who gave them the couch.
It turns out that the couch was owned by a family member who had passed on. And they weren’t surprised to find out that the couch had money hidden in it because when they searched their relative’s house, they found money stashed in different places.
The woman who found the money has such a big heart because she went back and returned the money to the owner.
And the owner was so grateful, that they gave her $2,200 along with a big THANK YOU.
What would you do if you found $36,000 or any money inside any piece of furniture you got for free?
Would you keep it and distribute it among your family? Would you keep it all to yourself?
Or would you do the same thing and return it to the owner?
The reporters asked each other what they would do if it happened to them and one of them, Scott, said he would return it because it wasn’t his money. And then he joked about hiding his own money under the mattress.
Some of the viewers thought the woman who found the money was a good person.
Money is probably tight for her that’s why she grabbed the free couch. And despite that, by instinct, she returned the money.
Some remarked as well that the family should have given her more than $2,200 for giving it back.
And this woman wasn’t alone.
In fact, there are other people who found large amounts of money and decided to give it back to the owner.
There was the story of three roommates in New York, who found $40,ooo in a couch they bought from a Salvation Army store. They returned the money to the 91-year-old widow who hid it inside the couch.
There was a homeless woman who found a purse with $10,000 cash inside and turned it in. A rabbi bought an old desk posted on Craiglist for $150 and found a stash of $98,000 cash within the desk. He returned it to the owner and found out the money was their inheritance they misplaced.
A store employee was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot when he saw an envelope of about $20,000 cash on the ground. He chased down the car of the person who dropped it and returned the money.
This is a really good sign that there is still kindness in the world and there are so many kind people around us.
