It's so charming inside!

Most people have high standards when it comes to their dream houses. Some envision their forever home to have an open floor plan with tall ceilings. Others prefer to have an enormous outdoor living area and plenty of natural light inside.

When Tina Spangler saw a vintage cottage located in Luxton Lake, she knew it was going to be the house of her dreams.

However, the place wasn’t that pretty. In fact, it would have made a lot of people sigh and turn around after seeing it for the first time. It’s a dilapidated home that’s far from being a “dream house”.

Instead of turning her back, Tina rolled up her sleeves and worked on transforming the house.

Apart from the abandoned cabin’s poor condition, Tina had very little funds back then. It was a good thing that she’s a very creative person.

Tina has an eye for decor.

She’s into vintage pieces. She loves salvaging old items and giving them new life.

Tina grew up in rural Wisconsin.

She spent her childhood in an old schoolhouse. Back then, she would dig up old bottles in the yard. She looked for evidence of the place’s history by checking the names carved into the bricks.

After finishing college, she was able to move into an apartment somewhere in Boston.

The place was fully furnished with items from the 1940s and ’50s. They were left there by the previous tenant who happened to be an elderly person. Since then, she’s been adding more pieces to her collection.

Tina used her skills to transform the abandoned cabin into a dreamy retro getaway.

The way she designed the cabin is just so amusing. She created a nice classic 1950’s feel. It served as her escape from the busy atmosphere of New York City where she worked as a producer.

A part of the cabin’s transformation was decorating it with vintage pieces.

She used 1940s barkcloth curtains and a vintage linoleum rug from the 1920s to achieve that old-fashioned feel. She even placed a couple of jadeite mugs in the cabin.

Even though the place isn’t that big, it has everything one needs to live comfortably.

Its kitchen has a mini-fridge, a mid-century stove, and a sink. Tina made sure to install shelves for extra storage. There’s an adorable dining table where one can use to eat a full meal or enjoy a cup of tea.

Even if it’s small, the fine details can leave you in awe, particularly the wood trim that frames the windows. The antique bed is charming, too.

The cabin’s bathroom is breathtaking.

You won’t be able to find a shower inside. However, there’s an antique soaking tub that fits the cabin’s vintage vibe. The piece came from Tina’s childhood lake house. Even the wood paneling in the room was done beautifully. The color really goes well with the white bathroom fixtures.

The adorable house comes with a back deck, too.

It’s a nice place to enjoy your coffee or rest after hiking. It’s also a good spot for roasting marshmallows and grilling barbeque.
