It was a fine sunny day at a festival in the Calumet County fairgrounds in Wisconsin, but after returning from a beer fest in Chilton, a woman discovered something terribly amiss.

She had lost her wedding ring.

It was heartbreaking, to say the least.

Mike and Mindy Johnson just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past April.

Given the decades-long existence of their marriage, the wedding ring symbolizes that eternal bond.

Mindy wasn’t ready to let it go.

A few weeks after their anniversary, they decided to join a couple of friends at the Wisconsin Micro-Breweries Club in Calumet County.

Mindy recounted the events of that day, leading to the ring being lost.

Thankfully, she wouldn’t have to search alone.

“A fun Sunday event, the weather was beautiful,” said Mindy in an interview. “I was putting sunscreen on my hand, took my rings off. Set my rings on my lap,” she added.

Distraction comes for us all and, unfortunately, replacing the rings completely slipped Mindy’s mind.

She got out of the car without putting the wedding ring back. What’s more, she didn’t notice them fall, either. It wasn’t until the night after that she noticed she had lost the ring.

Needless to say, it was a sleepless night.

“So we got up the next morning. And we got there before the sun came up and tried to look for it, and with no luck,” Mindy explained.

She put her last hope on Facebook.

The first few words in her post mentioned the events in Chilton. Mindy added that it was her most prized possession and was devastated about it being lost.

“It was a last-ditch effort,” she said.

The post had thousands of shares just hours after posting.

One viewer sprung into action.

Jennifer Finley told her husband Randy, an avid metal detectorist. It took a little convincing before Randy decided to give it a go, but she eventually worked her magic.

Randy brought a friend, Ross Baltz.

Together, the metal-detecting Good Samaritans started to search the grounds with their wands and not long after, they found it.

Ross immediately contacted Mindy through Facebook with the good news! She did not believe that they found the ring.

Mindy was out with some friends when she got the message. She rushed to Chilton to meet both Randy and Ross and personally thanked them.

“I was emotional, and I hugged them multiple times. It was pretty crazy that complete strangers went to the fairgrounds and looked for my ring,” Mindy shared in the interview.

Mindy was incredibly grateful.

Ross called it a humbling experience.

Seeing Mindy in tears before they gave back the ring made them realize just what a deed they had done. Jennifer also stated that it touched her heart as well.

According to a site, the hobby of metal detecting can be both rewarding and enjoyable at the same time.

The hobby is fun and has been around for decades, and is becoming more and more accessible for everyone to try.

People who metal detect find many interesting items, from coins to relics and everything in between, including a whole lot of rusty nails along the way.

Hear Mindy recount the entire ordeal in her own words in the interview below!
