Kahealani's grandparents lived without running water or electricity for the majority of their lives. For everything they'd done for others - she wanted to give them a gift they deserved.

It is incredible how beneficial this co-existence is for both grandparents and grandchildren. The former, have an opportunity to correct mistakes they made when they were bringing up their own children, while they also feel like they are at least two decades younger, by having small children around the house.

At the same time, grandchildren have the chance to build a strong bond with people who are not their parents, and feel that they will always be there for them and will love them unconditionally.

This is exactly how Kahealani Paradis felt about her grandparents. These people, who faced challenges and difficulties for the most part of their lives, brought up their granddaughter with much love and support.

“They persevered through hardships & never complained about what they didn’t have. They’ve done so much for so many people & never expect anything in return,” Paradis wrote in a Facebook post.

So, the woman, 29 at the time, felt that she needed to do something for her grandparents just like they did everything for the whole family, without expecting anything in return.

Paradis had had an idea. She would buy her grandma and grandpa a new home. This was something they really needed since they had always lived in a house that lacked basic amenities.

“My grandparents lived almost their entire lives with no electricity or running water,” she went on in her post.

So, what better gift for them than a house that would offer everything they had been missing all these years- and much more than that.

That’s why, when the opportunity appeared, Paradis knew she had to grab it and buy a house for the people that instilled all the values that inspired her life- her grandparents.

“This is something that I’ve been dreaming of doing for a very long time. I am beyond blessed to be able to make something like this happen for two of the most important people in my life. They’ve sacrificed so much for me and raised me to know that it is always better to give then to receive…. that it ain’t all about the money in your pocket, but about sticking together as a family & loving each other unconditionally.”

And that’s exactly what she did. She asked them to meet her at the house, but they had no idea it was actually their home.

In the video below, you can hear Paradis explaining that it was time for them to be treated with generosity just like they did all those years. And, finally, she reveals that the house is theirs.

Her grandma, 69 at the time, and her grandpa, 67, couldn’t believe their ears. The elderly woman immediately burst into tears of joy, while her husband looked excited to be starting a new life in a new house.
