Stepmom Calls Stepdaughter In Room For “Proposal”
This is the sweetest “confrontation” I’ve ever seen. She had me in tears.

When Jonathan and Kacie got married four years ago, it wasn’t just their relationship to take into account. The couple had both come from less than ideal relationships, and the connection they shared was serious.

But the engagement affected more than just Jonathan.

Jonathan was already a father, and his children would have to create a new family with Kacie, just as he would. Unlike so common a story however, Kacie and established genuine relationships, especially with his daughter Brilee. Rather uncommonly for a step daughter/mother relationship, the two grew closer over the years, and before long Kacie was a second mom to Brilee.

Brilee’s relationship with her biological mother had been strained.

Reportedly, Brilee felt neglect from her biological mother, with their relationship becoming more and more distant over the years. As much as Brilee wished to maintain a relationship with her mom, it seems that she just simply was not there for her. After four years, Brilee finally asked if Kacie would adopt her formally.

But the custody process is not always easy.

With Brilee’s biological mom not willing to relinquish her parental rights, their heartfelt mission was not cut-and-dry. It seems like for Kacie, adopting Brillee was not going to be a simple process, and patience and persistence were going to be essential in officially making Brilee her daughter.

Kacie Fought across several court dates to fight for custody of Brilee.

Brilee’s biological mother continued to show up to the court proceedings in order to stop Kacie from legally becoming her mother. This was an emotional time for the whole family as they waited to find out if Kacie may or may not officially become Brilee’s mother.

Then, after their final court appearance Kacie called Brilee into the living room.

Kacie’s body language was stern and focused, and Brilee didn’t know what to expect. Their meeting in court could have gone either way, and given that her biological mother had put up such a fight for her custody, we can expect that Brilee may not have held out much hope. As Kacie tells Brilee:

“As you know, today was a big day. Things… did not go as expected. So some things around here are going to have to be a little bit different. And the things with the court are about to be a whole lot easier…”

When the big twist hit Brilee, she couldn’t believe her ears.

“…She didn’t show up. And her parental rights got terminated.”

Her mother had not even shown up to her final court date, and so her parental rights were transferred to Kacie. But Kacie doesn’t simply tell Brilee about this and call it a day…

Kacie beckons Brilee off of the couch to join her standing in the lounge.

Getting on one knee as if proposing, Kacie pops the big question.

“Brilee Davis, you have been like a daughter to me, from the day that I met you. Now I want you to be not like a daughter. Will you be my real daughter?”

If you’re not weeping right now, you should be!

As the entire family embraces with tears of joy streaming down their faces including (or especially!) Dad, it’s hard not to feel all warm and fuzzy inside at their now officially complete family.
