You know, almost every fairytale ends with letting us know that the protagonists got married and they “lived happily ever after,” but this is not what always happens in real life.

Many people get married, but not all marriages last forever.

In fact, according to statistics, “almost 50 percent of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation”.

This is exactly why people who love their better half and want to get married are at the same time anxious about their future together.

Everyone wants to know what the key to a happy marriage is.

And while many people highlight honesty, or remaining sexy so that their spouse won’t feel that someone else is better, there is something that several people wish they could do: avoid living together with their spouse.

Yes, you read that correctly.

There are quite a few people out there who chose to live in a different apartment even after their marriage.

One of them, author, educator, and fashionista, Bianca Turetsky, recently wrote an article on Today about why she and her husband decided to live in different homes when they got married, a few years back.

You see, Bianca bought a New York apartment more than a decade ago, when she was going through a tough period of life, right after a hard breakup.

As she explained, she built a new life at that point, and it was her new beginning.

Along with the studio that she bought, she also fell in love with a rescued cat at the same time, and, since then, they became a family.

And, while Bianca and her kitty, Cloe, were fine together, the woman met Peter about six years ago, and they fell in love.

But, soon, she found out that he and his then teenage son are allergic.

“Like the throat-closing-up kind of allergies. She would never be able to be a part of a home with him, and I had no plans to have a life without her — no wedding ring was worth giving her up,” she recalled.

The woman had no idea what would happen next, but she knew she loved both the man and the pet.

A while later, Peter asked her if she wanted to be his wife, and she definitely did.

But, still, they needed to figure out how this would work.

As you can imagine, they decided to get married but live in different houses- even Peter, who is a widower, a couple of years ago was alone at home since his son got into college.

Today the spouses live in two different neighborhoods, and they totally enjoy the time they spend together.

“I know him better than anyone and yet our time together is still something I get butterflies for,” Bianca shared.

Well, that doesn’t sound like a bad thing, does it?

Still, although several people expressed their jealousy when it comes to Bianca and Peter’s decision, there are people who struggle with long distance marriage.
