She was anxious and lacked confidence in her appearance and just believed that the Makeover Guy “couldn’t do much worse.” But she was willing to take this last ditch effort to improve herself.

Her makeover journey is what makes the video below, a fan favorite for fans of the Makeover Guy.

Mary’s story isn’t unusual, in fact…

When the video starts, you can see Mary as she showed up at the salon. Her face is set in a neutral tone and her voice is just sort of there. Like many older women who’ve had children, jobs, and other life challenges, she feels that she ‘let herself go’ over the years.

Fortunately for women like Mary, incredible stars like Christopher Hopkins are out here using beauty magic to turn things around. But could Mrs. Johnson’s life be turned around with a makeover?

Mary hoped the makeover would inspire her

Mary admitted that the reason she agreed to go to the salon was for self-improvement. She had committed to a weight loss challenge and hoped that giving herself a beauty makeover could help her find the drive to stick to her fitness goals.

After all, if she could feel great about her appearance after a makeover, imagine how much further fitness can push her.

But could the Makeover Guy work his magic?

The Makeover Guy was certainly up to the challenge. But she had specific requirements that made Christopher’s job a little more challenging. As it turns out, Mary worked in the courts and she needed to be ‘taken seriously’.

So not only did her hairstyle have to remain professional, but she couldn’t use vibrant or wild colors like purple or pink.

It wasn’t as hard as you might think, thanks to color treatments to transform her hair from gray to lustrous red

And now we can say goodbye to small-town girl Mary and say hello to big city Mary Johnson

Just look at the difference, it’s like night and day. Not only does the makeover seem to magically shed a few years off Mary’s age, but it cheers her up. She smiles wide and has a lovely look that was guaranteed to make jaws hit the floor. Yowza!

Want proof? Some people said that the new Mary looks like she’s in her early 40s. But she’s actually in her 60s at the time of the video. Can you believe that?!

But what does her husband think?

Mary’s husband was kind enough to wait for Mary. He supported her goals of regaining the spring in her step, but he didn’t know what he was about to see. But surely he would still recognize his wife, right?

As it turns out, he almost mistook her for another woman

When Mary steps out for the big reveal, her husband has to do a double take to realize who she is. He even admitted that he thought Mary was still behind the stage somewhere.

After this big moment, Mary can only gush to the camera when she says:

“I couldn’t feel better, it just exceeded everything I thought possible. You guys didn’t have much of a canvas to work with, but Holy Moly, what a great job!”

After 460,000 views, this video is still going strong

Commenters fell in love with this Cinderella makeover story. Not only did they get to witness a de-aging makeover, but they saw theliteral emotional transformation of a professional woman in her 60s. As one commenter put it:

“This is the most amazing makeover I have seen yet on your videos. If I wouldn’t have seen it I would not believe that is the same person in before and after shots. She looks great and so much younger. Wow, what a difference a day makes!!”
