Pulling up to a fast-food drive-through window is a mixed bag. You truly have no idea WHAT you are going to get. Most of the time, you are greeted by a staticky hisss and a “how may I … your …“, only for some reason the last bit always cuts out. “What did you say? I didn’t catch that,” is our typical response.
One drive through worker has heard our ordering frustration and taken matters into his own hands!
Josh Lewis is definitely the man you want taking your order when you go on your next late-night Wendy’s run! Josh has a signature style that helps him take orders correctly, even with static and hissing! Even better, he makes you laugh throughout the entire event.
Josh works at a Wendy’s in Florida and has become a local celebrity!
Josh isn’t known for how fast he can make a burger or fry a nugget, he is known for his voice! Working the window and microphone, Josh is the guy that takes your order when you pull up to the menu. What makes him special is his voice.
For every order, Josh puts on his “movie trailer” voice!
When a customer pulls up to the window, they immediately get sucked into his charisma as he asks them what sauces they would like with those nuggets. He does such a good job that people started remembering him from the drive-through! He really does sound like a movie trailer, even with the most mundane questions.
Josh’s positive and funny outlook on his job wasn’t always a part of his routine.
In an interview with Inside Edition, josh explained:
I hit a dead end, stuck in the fast food industry. Nowhere to go, nothing to do, not enough funds to go anywhere else. So I said, “How can I make this better?”
Josh’s realization is what led him to where he is now.
“I can stop being just a drive-through operator, I can be an entertainer!”
When the piece finally clicked, the low outlook he had on life radically shifted. Instead of taking orders with a glum look, Josh started having fun with what he was doing!
Even better, he uses it as practice for a career one day!
Ideally, Josh wants to use his voice in an entertainment career! Even though he is currently working the window, he knows that it’s a perfect opportunity to practice and work on his craft. Wendy’s is aware that it’s not a part of “corporate protocol,” but the District Manager doesn’t mind, especially if he makes customers happy!
People pull up to the drive-through window already laughing.
The small moments that people are interacting with Josh usually results in quite a bit of laughter from everyone in the car. It’s amazing to see how one positive shift of mindset helped Josh go from pessimistic fast-food worker to laughter-inducing entertainer. It’s that kind of outlook on life that lets even the most mundane of jobs and tasks become exciting and enjoyable.
