Especially in larger cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, it’s not uncommon to see a lot of street performers. Some dance, some sing, and others play a musical instrument. While entertaining strangers, these performers meet all kinds of people.
Participating in the fun
For street performers who play music, people will often stop to listen or dance. It’s awesome to watch them get involved because they’re in the moment. These types of performers have a way of creating magic in a unique way.
Just an ordinary day
In Valencia, Spain, Borja Catanesi is a popular street performer. He’s frequently seen setting up his guitar and portable amplifier around parks, plazas, and other busy places in the city. Considering his music is uplifting and fun, the crowds are typically quite large. For Borja, one particular day didn’t seem any different from all the others…at first.
Reeling people in
On this day, Borja saw several small children step forward. Not only did they want to see him play the guitar but also dance a little. And as always, this street performer was more than welcoming. After all, he loves what he does.
He spots an elderly man
Later, as he’s playing a fast-paced song, Borja noticed a well-dressed elderly gentleman standing off to the side listening. Slowly, the man makes his way closer. But what happens next took him by complete surprise.
The man begins to dance
That’s right. Instead of a young child, this older gentleman begins to shuffle his feet. At first, his movements are somewhat small and controlled. But as Borja continues to play, this guy’s energy increases.
They’re a duo
Inspired by the elderly man’s moves, Borja starts to dance as well. There they are, two men in the streets of Spain who’ve never met before making a beautiful connection. The longer they dance together the fancier the older guy’s footwork becomes.
He gets pretty animated
Before long, the man’s not just dancing. He begins to use his cane to spice things up. As he sways back and forth and bends his knees, you have to wonder if he wasn’t a professional dancer at some point in his life. He might be old but he’s good.
Turning things up
But for anyone watching who thought this gentleman was good before, he’s just getting started. There’s one moment when he bends his back, which for his age is quite impressive. Actually, it’s impressive for someone of any age. Wow, just wow.
Motivating
Considering how nimble this guy is, surely, he motivated at least one person in the crowd. It goes to show that age is just a number. Okay, so maybe not all elderly people can do what he did but probably a lot of them never even tried.
In the spirit of music
This also shows how music touches people. Especially when you have someone as fantastic as Borja playing guitar, it’d be hard to just sit back and listen. Perhaps we could all take a few minutes of our time to stop and enjoy music, particularly, the kind created by street performers.
As for the elderly gentleman…
…we have no information about who he is or his background. But the one thing we do know is that on this specific day, he had a lot of fun. Yes, he gave an epic performance but he’s not the only one. Clearly, Borja was fueled by this man’s passion.
