Every day, millions of people work hard at their jobs. But it’s rare when people notice their passion and drive for achieving excellence. There’s one type of worker that few people give any thought to… delivery drivers.
These men and women rush from one location to another to ensure that packages arrive to customers on time. They spend hours away from their families to focus on nothing but their job. That of course, entails carrying both light and heavy packages and dealing with not only weather conditions but also road hazards.
Enter the picture – Chad
Chad just so happens to be a UPS delivery driver who works in Middle Paxton Township in Pennsylvania. Although most delivery drivers work hard, long hours, this guy is exceptional. After COVID-19 hit, he selflessly spent more than 70 hours a week working to keep his customers happy.
Going above and beyond
Even though Chad spends long hours delivering packages, he never complains. He also never shows any frustration or irritation to his customers. In fact, they all agreed that this man is unique, which makes him stand out.
Customers come first
In Chad’s eyes, the customer always comes first. One resident of Middle Paxton Township stated that “He goes out of his way to make us feel taken care of. He’s been working like 140 hours every two weeks. Never a sour face, always ‘living the dream.’”
Coming up with a plan
The people who Chad makes deliveries to, appreciate him and they wanted him to know that. So, one particular woman had an idea. She organized an event that would let the community personally thank Chad for his amazing service.
Hard work reaps rewards
Like so many people, Chad just thought he was doing what every delivery driver should do… work hard and treat the customers with respect. But behind the scenes, that attitude warranted recognition. Working alongside the local UPS office and dispatch, people in the community coordinated a special event just for Chad.
Just an ordinary day…
…or at least Chad thought it was when in reality, it was a setup. He’d been dispatched to pick up a delivery from a firehouse. In the meantime, the community was getting into position. When he arrived, he was greeted by multiple people, balloons, and masked residents alike.
There was more to come
As you can imagine, this UPS delivery driver was confused. He was probably wondering why everyone was cheering as he arrived. But it didn’t take long before the secret was out.
A celebration for Chad
In complete shock, he discovered the community was there to rally behind him. They let him know that his positive attitude and continuous smile despite working long hours made their day brighter. What he didn’t realize is that these people had even more up their sleeves.
Heartfelt gifts
Having such an outpouring of love and support was more than Chad could’ve imagined. But the community also gave him several cards to further show their appreciation and the $1,000 they’d raised just for him. The best part was his response.
He broke down in tears
That’s right, Chad was speechless. All he could do was cry happy tears. He was so touched that his customers would go out of their way for him, but they did.
