It’s too bad that more people don’t see police officers as normal people…you know, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and so on. But to learn this is who they are, you don’t have to look too far. Fortunately, the internet is buzzing with some incredible videos of cops doing everyday people things…like singing.

A Capella

For those who don’t know, singing A Capella equates to using voices only. In other words, there isn’t any accompanying music. As you can imagine, this is often more difficult since it’s much easier to hear mistakes.

Michael Norwood and Moe Badger’s story

Two officers from Buffalo, New York, just made a big scene on the internet and for all the right reasons. You see, they did a beautiful A Capella number inside of a local restaurant. Not only are they partners on the force but also off.

Their video went viral

After the video of the two officers singing was posted on social media, it didn’t take long for it to go viral. So far, it’s racked up more than 730,000 views. And people love it. One poster commented, “Can’t help but smile – we need more officers like this.” Another said, “Why can’t I get pulled over by cops like them?”

The song of choice?

They sang something that millions of people love, “My Girl.” Originally performed by The Temptations, this famous group would be so proud of these cops. Although they don’t compare to the famous group as far as talent, they still make a lasting impression.

An iconic choice

The two officers put their hearts into this soul music. We’re sure they would’ve done the same for any song but considering this one was the first number-one single in the US for the Temptations, they knew they had to perform their best.

Fast friends

In the video, the two explain how the minute they met, something just clicked. Before becoming cops, one was a gospel singer and the other a basketball player. But this video goes beyond their singing. It delves into their lives, how they want the public to perceive them and other officers around the country, and what they do now to help their community.

True passion

Although these guys do many of the same things that other officers do, they tend to go even further. They work hard to connect with people of all ages. And because they sing just about every place they go, they’re usually quickly recognized. Of course, it’s not uncommon for individuals to ask for pictures, which they happily grant.

“The Singing Cops”

That’s the name people in Buffalo have given these two. One of them said during the interview given on the video that after pulling someone over, they looked at the cops and said, “You’re the singing cops. I want a song right now.” They’re having a good time with all of this.

They’re also serious

Despite becoming somewhat famous and having fun, Officers Norwood and Badger know they have a job to do. But along with handing out speeding tickets and chasing bad guys, they spend as much time as possible building up the youth in the community. That includes holding regular basketball games where the players receive a little bit of free coaching.

Remarkable examples

That one poster is right. It would be awesome if more cops were like these two. One thing’s for sure, they set a great example for the department, other officers, and the members within the community they serve. These guys are awesome.
