The idea of getting a makeover can be pretty daunting.
Yes, it’s exciting to imagine switching up your look after so long, but letting go of everything you’re familiar and comfortable with isn’t easy.
Then imagine getting your transformation recorded and posted on YouTube, and you’ve got even more reason to be nervous!
The Makeover Guy has been carrying out mind-blowing makeovers on mature women for decades.
He’s the go-to guy for makeup and hair transformations, and if you can battle the initial anxiety of being in front of a camera, his incredible beauty styling techniques are well worth taking advantage of.
Real name Christoper Hopkins, the Makeover Guy works from a studio in rural Minnesota, and women from all over the country – sometimes even the world – flock to him for a much-needed appearance enhancement.
His makeover studios sound like the place to be if you’re feeling a little lost, or you just think it’s time for change.
The Makeover Guy’s videos are incredibly addictive, so there’s your warning – you think you’ll just watch a couple, and you end up working your way through much more than that!
Though each makeover guest has an inspiring story, you’ll particularly love the story of two nervous sisters.
Lorraine and Tana visited the Makeover Guy’s studios from Montana and California.
The pair look like deer in headlights on camera, shrinking back and holding onto one another as if they’re in danger.
After giggling about how nervous they are, they explain a bit about why they’re here and what they’d like to see in each other’s makeovers.
Lorraine mentions that she’d like to see “something simpler” for Tana, and “easier for her to handle”, as her sister gets up early every morning for work. Tana wants her sister to have “something a little shorter” for “more pizzaz”.
Not a problem for the Makeover Guy!
In the next few clips, we’re treated to Christopher doing what he does best: assessing Lorraine’s hair and deciding on the best approach for a cut, color and style.
It’s clear that he knows what he’s doing and he already has a plan blossoming in his mind – auburn is the color he’s chosen.
While other trusty members of his team get to work on Tana, Christopher gets busy with Lorraine.
Lorraine gives him guidance as he works, saying:
“Professional, polished, a style that stays all day… I just want to stay polished-looking throughout the day, and age-appropriate.”
She didn’t have to worry – Christopher knows exactly how to make someone look good with just a single glance!
Meanwhile, a fellow stylist gives Tana a tutorial on putting on false eyelashes.
Hey, it’s hard if you’ve never done it before. Most of us wouldn’t bother with the fuss of them usually, but they can be a great option for big events or nights out.
When it’s time for the big reveal, the sisters are finally reunited, and the camera catches the moment they see each other for the first time post-makeover.
They’re clearly impressed with each others’ new looks.
Tana’s hair gets the most attention – it’s much shorter than it was before, which accentuates her high cheekbones and makes her look so much younger.
Christopher has succeeded yet again, and this time, he has two happy clients for the price of one!
